Default Finally I can show it

Hi guys,

5 months ago I joined the forum in awaiting of my car. after a long wait it finally arrived in the netherlands. And of course I thought it would be ready for the road in a few days. So when I got the car home I immediately brought it to a corvette specialist who would make the car ready for the strict dutch rules. Was hoping to drive around the last week of this summer.....NOT.

As always there were more things that had to be adressed than I thought. And since it takes four weeks to get some parts here it all took pretty long before I got the car back again.

long story short it took forever (in my eyes) but the car's underside was fully adressed: most rubbers on the frame renewed, new brake lines, emergeny brake repaired, leaky fuel line repaired and so on....

Finally home and ready! time for a wash, pics and of course a spin through the neighborhood . (even though it doesn't have a license plate yet )

The car has sidepipes and is so rare here that it kinda drew the attention immediately. before I knew it 3 neighbors turned up the driveway asking if they could take a look at the Sting Ray!
the car was home for an hour and conversations were already going. And of course what a blast to drive!!

Some info on the car:

1966 C2 Coupe Sting Ray
327 300 Numbers Matching
4 speed also Matching
Rally Red exterior (repainted but was orignal color)
genuine red leather interior (redone but also was orignal)
Factory Power Steering
Knock offs (repro but true knock off no bolt on)
Teak wheel
Thunder sounding side pipes (later installed not factory)
car is almost done except for some small details:
-has some paint chips
-jack missing
-hideous radio (being worked on)
-glove box light broken
-wrong antenna
-and so on...

enough talk! (was getting dark already so didn't have time for a big shoot but will follow through time)

For those of you who noticed:

-Spinner caps were off because the corvette specialist let me put in the safety pins myself so I could check.
-White day driving lights that's for dutch rules, but after I get the plates the orange ones are back on!
What a great machine!!!

Great story and a hell of a car!

Now that you have it sorted out, drive the wheels off it! Here in Florida the weather has cooled off so I'm driving mine 2-3 days a week.

Thanks for sharing and enjoy!

Thats a VERY clean looking car...

Get started on checking it out...beings winter is almost there, you'll have plenty of time to get parts if needed to fix anything...

How about some engine pictures...

I was busy with cleaning the beast then it got dark and was starting to rain so I drove it into the garage quickly, so didn't take a photo of the engine bay yet here at home, but of course I got a pic from in the US

Here you go

Nice...

I would change the PCV as it looks pretty nasty and old...

Also, if your going for correctness...the wing nut on top of the shielding is wrong...

Should be a hex-head bolt, with an integral lock washer...

Haha you have eyes like a hawk, And as far as correctness goes I am trying to get everything looking as correct as possible at a normal cost. So the thing you mentioned I will address. But paying 1200 bucks for an original working power antenna, no wouldn't do that then I would rather get a repro that looks 95% correct. After all it's a high quality driver not a nut and bolt car.

Thanks for the help

66 jack,

Looked at another picture and here the pcv doesn't look that bad actually.
(And I know those hose clamps aren't correct)

Twan,
Great looking coupe! Consider getting LED orange turn signal lenses on the front. The LED lights are integrated into the lens and are an easy plug and play installation. You may also consider getting them for your rear taillight lenses. If you need to know who the Corvette Forum member who sells them, shoot me a PM.
