Default Proportioning Valve?

Can someone school me on the proportioning valve on a '67 Corvette 327/350? I've read that It's not a true proportioning valve but, more correctly, a distribution block and the the front/rear proportioning is accomplished by different sized caliper pistons on the front and rear.

Is that accurate?

So, what is inside the proportioning valve? Just simple passageways that split the fluid equally front to rear or is it more complicated than that? I know there's a switch that actuates the brake light on the dash if there's a problem but is there anything else?

Can a proportioning valve fail or become gummed up with bad fluid and require replacement?

As always, thanks!

your correct its not a proportioning valve but a distribution block. but I think the the size of the M/C bore and size of the chamber in the M/C.

but why are you asking about this.

Trying to solve a problem with front brakes dragging.

Not sure what you mean by size of the MC bore and size of the chamber?

different MC have different piston bores for different applications. all 67 cars used the same one though. so unless you got a passenger car MC you should be fine

Sounds like corrosion in the front caliper bores causing sticking.

there was a residual pressure valve in my C1 M/C that caused my front discs to drag.

Thanks for the responses. Problem solved. It was the booster causing the brake drag.
