So what have you found in your car
I know this was posted several years ago but I am going to recover my seats and install new carpet in my 67 Coupe. Now I did not expect to find much because the car was built on Nov 8 1966 and it was only driven a few years till it was put into storage in 1971. But I have worked on other Corvettes in my day but here is whatI just found in my 67 Coupe. Under the drivers seat next to the drive shaft hump there was 5 quarters, 1 dime 1 nickle and 2 pennies for a grand total of $1.42 which don't buy much these days for a 67 Corvette. In the past I have had my grandson help me when he was about 10 or 12 and he found under s driver seat about $3.00 in change and a mans diamond ring. The diamond was not all that big but my grandson thought he found the Blue Diamond from Titanic. He was even more excited when I told him that he found it so he gets to keep it. He is 17 now and still has that ring. Besides other monies in other cars I did find a pack of condoms and some ladies phone number on a piece of paper and her name was Connie, didn't give a last name. Other then that just some fuses and other odds and ends in the glove box of a few cars. SO what have you found in some of the car you have or have had in the past from whom ever you bought the car from??

I found in my 69 Z when I restored it, an old bag of weed, like dust, two joints and a roach, an old *** bic lighter, 2 dollars in various change and a green thing you look through which has a naked lady on all fours showing sporting major 70's bush with matching blue eye shadow. Yeah it's a graphic **** pic that I got a kick out of.. it's in the top of my toolbox, I think I'll go look at it!
Haha, it's about the size of a tic tac box..

I wish I had something funny to add, but I think this thread is great- there was an old one but it's several years back. I'll stay tuned.
Just so I've said something-
Inside I have found
1) joy in the form of a lifelong childhood dream that never dies
2) a story about my being hit by a tractor trailer while in it
3) a sense of accomplishment in fixing it
4) the thrills of pushing it around a road course
5) the reminder about how fleeting life can be, and that you have to shake off some stuff, man up, and do what you love again
And probably a few more intangibles.

When I replaced the carpet in my '92 I found a high school ID from a guy in St Louis. Tracked him down, he could not figure how the ID got there as he didn't buy the car until well after he was out of school.
I was hoping for some detailed history of the car but he was a bit fuzzy, could not remember who he sold it to, and gave me a name he thought but was not sure was the previous owner. Better than nothing I guess.

I can trace my 60 to about 1986 or so. That guy bought off of a john smith or Joe smith or the initials js but I hit a dead end. When I took my dash pad off i found written in paint "restored 1985 js"! It got me no closer to the mystery but at least I was excited for a moment.

I've never found anything interesting in any of the Corvettes I've owned, though it was nice to be able to get the 3 build sheets, that were loose inside my 81 when it came off of the new car transporter.
Years ago, I dragged a 62 409 Bel Air Sport Coupe out of a field. In tearing it down to restore it, I found a condom taped to the backside of the dash board!
The previous owner must have been a Boy Scout!

A pack of Lucky Strikes (unfiltered), matches from various hotels/restaurants from the 70's, and an "Elastoplast" by Duke Laboratories (basically a band-aid)!

I found a small diamond out of an engagement ring.
It wasn't the best quality diamond, but it was real.
This was about 1976. I found it in a 1970 Dodge Challenger, 318, automatic, with minor front end alignment damage.
I sold it to a jeweler for a few hundred dollars. He said it was about 1/3 of a carat, but not a high quality stone. I didn't know any better.
The money from that diamond fixed the minor front end damage.
It was a half way decent car. Wish I still had it.

I found:
- A deluxe mouse nest in a frame rail
- A bent front spindle
- A previously replace front end
- 10 leafs in my rear spring
- Front springs that were probably 18 inches tall removed
- That the car was originally ordered without a radio but one had been installed with a mis-located antenna
But- no personal mementos from previous owners except a stack of receipts back to 1977

Lost and Found
In my 70 Chevelle I found a receipt from a burger joint in Michigan from 1980. In my 66 coupe, I found three small plastic children's toys about 1.5" tall in the pocket in the rear where the body mount is located. I still have them. My buddy owned a GM dealership in Iowa in the early 70's and a car kept coming back for repair for a noise in one of the doors. It drove the service dept. crazy. They took the door completely apart and found a small bottle with a note in it asking how long it took them to find the noise. You can't make this stuff up. Jerry

More interestingly, I found an early A/C Impala which had been modified to store beer in the dash A/C ducts for cold storage (several cans were 'on ice' in the trade in) and a windshield washer system modified to deliver Scotch to the passenger compartment when the dash button was pressed...

Melting Slicks
I found some grease soaked "roaches" under the console near the ash tray. A very worn out pocket knife in the body vent area. Probably was used during a painting. And, the 1976 Texas lic tag was tarred to the floor around the area of the gas pedal to repair fiberglass damage.

Found an old NJ title issued in 1988 stuck in the owner's manual and it showed the mileage of 43654.
It had a little over 45,000 miles on it when I bought it in 2011 from Conte's in NJ. It has 57,000 on it now.

Found ticket stub from a drive in theater in Huntington Beach CA in my 1960. I live in MD but was told the car was originally from Calfornia and not driven for about 30 years. The ticket stub and battery in the car with a sales date in 1979 punched seem to make the story plausible.
