Default 1963 Corvette Central Exhaust System no fit

While I have the car on blocks installing the transmission I decided to install a new exhaust system. Just about everyone said the CC system will fit. I purchased the system with original mufflers and not welded. I attempt to install the pipe going from the exhaust manifold to the second long pipe and when I tighten the nuts, the end of the pipe is about a 1/2" above the opening in the frame. It's almost like the pipe going down from the manifold needs to be longer before the 90 degree bend. Some of you say it will fit but will need tweaking. What's tweaking mean. Heat the pipe and bend it at the 90 degree bend.

Yes,
that would be it I would say.
The system is made I believe to fit "the ideal" mid-year.
Now after 50 years some cars no longer fit "the ideal".

Did you put in the heat riser on pass side? and the insert/reducers/doughnuts on both sides...

You should install the exhaust system as an assembly and then tighten it up. Use a spacer of some sort at the corssmember to assure you have clearance after tightening. and then work your way back.

No tweaking should be required if the pipes are bent right. Damn sure don't need to be heated and reshaped.

Yes, I'll call CC and see what they have to say.

I hope you like quiet exhaust if you bought a stock system or one that sounds like a 1940 tractor if you purchased their "off road" n11 system.

I hope your are right. I love quite. If you can hear the engine when it's running it's still to loud for me.
