Default 1962 Convertible top frame adjustment

after I bought my 1962 It was about 2 years till I took the hard top off since I bought the car. I checked to see if frame and soft top was there that's it. I have been using it with hard top till last week. My son helped me take it off but I have an issue. The side rails on the frame don't stay straight when top is strapped down. The sides "V" at the center bolts and when I close the doors, the windows don't go past the vinyl unless I use a screwdriver to pop the chrome window frame past the top vinyl. I did manage to close drivers door and roll window up from passenger side. Then close passenger door and use a key to get window past vinyl corner. Does anyone know how to adjust the soft top frame of a C1 1962?
thanks.
