This is a well discussed subject that can be found in the "sticky" section C-1, C-2 FAQ and by doing a search under "bulbs" "dash lights". Dennis

LED dash bulbs
I suggest you Google LED 1816 bulbs there is a lot of variety especially at www.superbrightleds.com.
Under specifications they indicate dim-able or not.
But note that many LED bulbs are focused and do not diffuse the light as needed for instrument clusters or individual gauges.
I'm sure their Tech Support can give you some good information.

I replaced all my gray wire bulbs (gauge bulbs) with super bright leds..I used part no. BA9S-CWHP5 Cool White.. Much brighter and you can dim them.. $5.00 a bulb but worth it.. go on superbrightleds.com .. good luck..

Yep - BA9S really brightened up my dash.
Also wanted to replace the interior footwell/door lamps with a set of dual contact LED bulbs but haven't found any that would work. They stay on all the time because apparently the base is grounded all the time, which makes sense as it's attached to the body that way.
Anyone know what kind of footwell LEDs I should be looking for, that uses only the inner dual contacts for +/- and not the housing?

Used the Superbrightleds.com # BA9s-WWHP5 (warm white) LEDs on my 62, and am very pleased with the results. Was surprised at how bright they were, and that I actually "needed" to dim them - never used the dimmer previously).
Don't waste your time, money, and effort on the Ebay LEDs (I did, and regretted it - they were not a "bargain" after all).
