Installing OIL FILTER CANISTER decal, what's the trick
Has anyone tried putting one of these decals on the canister. I purchase 1 from 2 different vendors and got the same results. The decal will not come off the paper backing. ZIP states to soak for 1 or 2 minutes and slide it off the paper backing. None of the 2 I had would slide off. I left it in there even longer with no results. I would almost think they are a peel and stick but vendors state they are water soluble.

Original filter instructions were silkscreen -- no decals nor peel n' stick labels of any kind were used. Ken Hansen Automotive (Medina TN) restores these canisters to perfection with powder coat gloss black finish, the correct silkscreen graphics & and new inside hardware items.

I bought 6 of them from Paragon, I like to keep some extras. Peel and stick. I had to start the peel with a razor or exacto knife. I sprayed a couple coats of clear over the finished product.

The decals won't pass judging without a hit, if you care about that. Mine didn't...

Does anyone have a lead on getting a stencil made to do the silk screen yourself? i think one could be made using the decal as a template with the right machine to copy and transfer the pattern.
Many folks besides me have rebuilt their own and don't feel the need to send it out just for graphics. In the mean time, the peel and stick decal will have to do. Problem with those is no matter how well it's on there initially, it seems the heat and oil from future filter changes always starts them peeling at the corners. Pilot Dan

I clear coated my peel and stick decal and its been over a year now and still looks fine...if you're tricky you face the decal towards the rear of the car when assembling; at least it'll get less road rash...

Researched approximately ten major vendors when I did my restoration a while back. At that time all I found was peal and stick decals. Haven’t seen anything else since. Believe it’s peal and stick or opt for the silkscreen application. Peal and stick with a mist coat of clear engine enamel over the sticker area seems to be working for me so far.
