I am in the market for a hardtop for my 63. Does anyone know how much they weigh?

Rick, there is a 63 (only) white one on Ebay from Bowdon, Ga @ $599. It needs some TLC. I've seen it as I have family there. It needs a restoration, but it is the correct year. I have no interest in the listing.

If you want a correct hardtop for your 63, be sure you buy the correct top. There are obvious differences between early and late designs. In mid 1963, an obvious notch was deleted from the side. Also, the number of reinforcements for the rear window.

My 63 is an early one, 11/9/62. I knew there was a difference,I just had not seen any pic of the notch so thanks for the pic that is a BIG help in identifying the right one. I did post in WTB but I can only imagine this will be a tall order.

If you're not concerned about being correct, a later top will work.

I have a 2nd design top that I don't need but as long as you're looking, you may as well find a correct 1st design top.

My late November car does not seem to have the notch. This would agree with Adames' statement that the notch didn't appear until Dec.
62. As regarding the notch, how is his info incorrect?

Unfortunately, when Noland was gathering information for his 63-67 restoration guide, he received a lot of bad information from several 63 owners.

And again, unfortunately, the 63-64 team leader believed it and included this incorrect information in a few editions of his judging guides.

Most 63 guys knew that the notch hardtop information he had was incorrect.

Several people, including me were involved in an extensive research project to prove the information was incorrect.

Quite a few owners of original unrestored early dated tops supplied info and photos of the notch on their tops.

I have a pile of original GM blueprints on the 1st and 2nd design tops that clearly show that the notched top was the first design used from start of 63 production through around the middle of 63 production.

Years ago, Harry Sadlock and I posted a lot of the proof on the NCRS discussion board but the 63-64 team leader refused to accept it until the proof was sent directly to Roy Sinor.

I'm pretty sure the correction has been made for their latest edition of the JG.

Sorry about that. I see in the Ebay history it is sold. Had your "notch" too. You'll find one. I've seen several over time.
