Most won't have the budgets to run tires like the Avons and Michelin TBs and the repop Pirellis or other marginal usage on the street tires!
Then you have a category that is getting better where like F-70 or L-60 reproduction type Goodyears and Firestones are. Wing repop' d And those aren't what I would call performance tires, even though being made of modern rubber! They don't stick like the ones above!
Then the last group that that has been around is the last BFG holdout, who offers sizing for 8-10 inch rims (275 & 295 15s). They are cheap and are street safe!
And I hear rumors of more vintage repops!
Our cars are pretty high strung rides, so we either follow them with a chase or support vehicle carrying an extra set of rims and race tires or we are trailering now if further out than a hundred miles! We burn more than a whole tank of gas on a hundred mile round trip too! We used to use the BFG R1/Gforce race tires sold special order and drive out carefully on those! But they weren't build for commuting to and from events!
The 168mph rated TB-15 rally tires at 5 bills a pop each are what I am looking to mount up next! At the big Porsche Event here, I found some of the RGruppe crowd on that rubber, but with mixed reviews and the negatives were mostly on the expected life expectancy on the street! But those guys running said better results than what else is out there!
And 7 inch rims should not be hard to shoe! I haven't shopped for those small sizes lately, but maybe 15 inch in the 205-235 range in a true apeed rated high performance tire! I don't need tires like that in that smaller size! My C3 driver, I just op that on BFGs, and the suspension is pretty built, so the tires are the disappointment, but it is fine! I just drive it within it's ability with those tires! They get greasy fast! Like to slide around!

Once we were short on time and ran H rated Yokes on one of our Carreras down in Mexico. Warm, extended operation well over 100MPH, thought we'd be fine. No issue during event. Checked out tires when we returned and they were coming apart. Never again.

Quite correct Ray, the engine is set so far back in the car. It is considered the first front/mid engine car built he also felt that the small block Chevy was the best engine available so Bizzarrinis used the 350hp Corvette engine. Quite a compliment coming from the man who was Ferraris chief race engineer and also the designer of the Lamborgini v12 that stayed in production til the mid 1990s.

So heres the exact look Im going for....
Let me know what you think, it almost looks like this car is running 16s, but its hard to tell. I really wish I could find the wheel size, back spacing, and tires size. This is an original '63 Z06 that sold at Mecham a while ago....lots of info on the web site, unfortunately, nothing on the wheel/tire set up.

I run these wheels on my 67 in 17X7 size with 4.75 backspacing with stock fenders and the parking brake brackets moved to tops of the rear trailing arms. Unfortunately, I can't post a photo because Photobucket seems to have gotten screwed up lately.

Thanks Lou....I actually tracked down some of your old threads from a while back when you went from the 15s to the 17s. I was mostly interested in the 50 series tires you were running on the 15s. Great looking car!!

Avon CR6ZZ 225/60/15 on 15x7 rims.
I was amazed how different the driving characteristic are from the Goodyear Eagle 225/55/17 on 17x7 that came with the car. On the Avons the car is much more stable, less wandering and a much softer ride. This is without in any way changing any suspension geometry, I will be looking at that in detail soon but based on the set up the car came with the original size/pattern tyres are night and day better on these cars.
