Original 58 options on J58S03789
I owned a 58 in the 70's and have been told all Corvette records at St Louis were destroyed J58S03789 If so, oh well. If not, this old man would like to find what was on it from the factory before it finally got to me l
Thanks, Bill Dawson, Springfield, MO

I think in the absense of paperwork you will have to be your own detective and look for signs of factory installed items like washers, courtesy light, heater, soft top/ hard top only ect... some things like parking brake alarm could be addded without a trace. Good luck. Most have radio and heat ect.... for driving comfort. Pilot Dan

Maybe the OP will find the car if he tries, he's got the VIN # you never know. It seems quite a few folks go searching for that original car from their past. Depending on the car, I don't know if it would help though who knows what was done to it over the last 50+ years

Good point. Actually he has an incorrect VIN. I checked into J58S103789 and there IS a record of that one in NMVTIS. I didn't bother paying the $4.95 but OP may figure it's worth it. It does not show in the C-1 registry.

58 corvette vin
The correct VIN is as stated J58S03789. The original vehicle registration does not show a "one" as part of the serial number but all the other paper work I have, adds a one at the beginning of the serial number. So the correct VIN must be J58S103789. That also means it was built in February, 1958. I do not know what NMVTIS means but I will Pay gladly. Not that it probably matters, I also have the Mo license tag number and the title Number. Thanks for your help. Bill Dawson

Correct VIN #2
Hopefully this upload comes through if the 1st time didn't. You can see why I omitted the 1. Thanks again Bill

National Motor Vehicle Title Information Service
Use this link:
http://www.add123.com/
Put your VIN (including that "1") in the space and enter. The next page you enter again and it will tell you - in your case - they DO have a record of it. You agree to their terms, and have to pay them to get the actual record(s). Cost is $4.95. Be sure to print it off or save to your computer so you have it for future reference.
It will NOT give you any personal information (like the current owner), but it will tell you what state the vehicle is currently registered in.
Once you know what state the vehicle is registered in, start checking with local Corvette clubs in that state to see if someone can help you find it.

Thanks from an old man. I will tell you a story like all old men like to tell. I was married, with 2 small children and 2 cars each with money owed on them and in college full time. I got a chance to buy a 58 Corvette roadster, cheap. I did, on credit, without telling my wife. Needless to say she was not happy and told me I could either sell it or go live in it. I did sell it unhappily. I never took a picture, hence my interest.
