In 1956/57 a Driver side firewall mounted hood latch is a straight pull.
on the passenger side the cable is off to the side and requires a arm pointing outboard.

Brake cable ??????

I think you mean hood cable
the bodies are the same but the "arms" are a little different
LH is a straight down
RH is a right angle
Normal

on mine it is a straight pull on passenger side and the latch mounted on the fire wall on the drivers side has that little arm attached to it with a hole at the end for the cable. it's backwards. but if i reverse them the cable won't line up with the hole.

might not be broke but its sure screwed up. can't hardly believe someone would do this. and i can't see a hole in the firewall where it would have originally been.

it seems that my Uncle Bubba worked for Chevrolet/Corvette; what is in the way of the passenger side being straight in like the driver's side?
