Greg,
I hope I'm not overstating the obvious here. In your post #206, you're showing the rear spring ends. The spring end hardware is installed incorrectly. The rounded edge of the washer goes up against the rubber bushing (both top and bottom), not the sharp edge side. Also, you're missing the cotter key that will retain the nut on the end of the spring end bolt once you run the nut all the way up. Just a little FYI.

To me its sad how many cars sit in parade fields, receiving awards for being stagnant and shiny. To me there's nothing more boring than a stock car. To me, there's no reason to sacrifice safety in the name or originality. But thanks for your input.

So sad, you had to post twice about your feelings in the build thread of a guy who has been straight up about fulfilling a dream he has had for years. He also has been careful to make every change easily reversible.
The hobby has room and should encourage both ends of the spectrum. Whether you decide to make changes for safety, performance, or appearance or decide to pursue a perfectly restored, right off the showroom beauty, we should respect and encourage the build and preservation of these and other classic vehicles.
Well done, Greg!

To each is own. That’s why I love going to cars and coffee instead of NCRS events (not that there’s anything wrong with NCRS events). You get to see diversity. Let’s face it, you’ve seen one top flight car, you’ve seen them all.
I despise the judgement and enjoy what each person does to THIER car.
Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing!!

Another follower that drives his corvette through a auto zone parts store with a magnet you must go to a lot of car shows. Zora is rolling over in his grave!

Well, I can't say that I frequent Auto Zone with a magnet, but I assure you that I don't allow the actions of a dead man's body to influence the decisions I make with regard to my Corvette.

There are a number of us enjoying this thread, if you dislike it may I suggest you do not click on it anymore. Greg, is an officer in our U.S. Navy and just served our nation over seas away from his family for 6-7 months. This car has been his dream for years and he is sharing this experience with us. Some of us are looking forward to seeing this back on the road.

Whoa! Zora himself drove each new Corvette through the GM parts store “with a magnet”. We all benefited from the tech available at the time with the availability of suspension upgrades, comfort upgrades, performance upgrades, etc. we would not have the 1967 L88 without Zora and his magnet. I think Zora would be cheering us on and only rolling over to get a better look!

Zora was all about performance, not originality ribbons. I'm pretty sure that he too would be enjoying this thread and making suggested improvements along the way.
If originality is the game, that's what the NCRS website is all about. This site caters to modded cars as much as it does to original cars, which is what makes it much better.
Embrace other viewpoints, your world just might become a whole lot cooler!
Now back to the show!

Thanks bud, I'm glad most are enjoying the progress....you'll never please everyone all of the time, and that's certainly not the intent. Are you sticking around for this little thunder storm we're going to get this weekend? We just got our flyable aircraft out of here today but I wasn't on the list to fly out, so Ill be sticking around. Looks like another 4-day weekend in the garage!!

Thanks....we're on the 3rd floor, so my only concern is the garage. I've got the Vette 2' in the air on jack stands, and everything of importance up off the floor. Water has never even crested the wall down by the docks, so I'm no overly concerned. We had 7-9 storm surge during Sandy in '12 and had no issue so I'm not anticipating anything other than a peaceful few days of wrench turning....hopefully!

Mark, I am standing proudly and saluting Greg, US Naval aviator that he is. I hate to see how he is altering his formerly sweet original 64, but respect his right to do it. And I respect your right to modify your 66, if you felt you needed to to thoroughly enjoy your car. As you know, I too own a modified mid-year, that I love more than my TF but still a driver 65. So, many of us die hard NCRS'rs can feel the pain of watching a nice original car altered, but still appreciate the work that goes in, and still enjoy a good thread. I completely enjoy visiting with you, Paul and other non-NCRS types at Carlisle and other places, and kicking tires on all our vettes. I hope one day to get to do the same with aviator Greg, and get to view up close and personal his dream mid-year.
ps, I forgot to add that my fingers are crossed for all us Virginians, especially youse who live in the coastal regions.

When I see cars that the mods turn my stomach a little I keep my mouth shut. Like my mother said "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all." To each his own. It is the owners car, money and time to do what they want to THEIR car.

Safety Car
You guys stay safe and dry out there. I am enjoying your car by the way as mine will be a facelift/convenience mod car. The daughter of a friend at work graduated the naval academy and wanted to fly the P8 but only got to choose the CH53 instead. She said her boyfriend, also a naval aviator, is having to fly his plane out before the storm and she is getting their dog and stuff out heading for higher ground. Not sure where they are stationed.
