Default 1963 vs 1964 Convertible

How do you tell the difference between these two? Obviously the hardtop is an easy mark, but I am having trouble telling the difference besides for the hood vents and lack thereof on the 64. How could you tell the year from the side or rear?

All 64 Corvettes leave a residue of awesomeness in their track. It's kind of a shimmering glow, the kind you might feel after making out with Scarlett Johansson or, to a lesssr extent, shooting pool and drinking rye whisky with Al Pacino.

The hardtop is not a good indicator as the late '63's used the same hardtop as late '63's.

Here is all that comes to mind for me.

Rear- The exhaust bezel are different.

Side- Hubcaps are different. If it's a FI car, the right side has a subtle difference in the location of the FI emblem and flags. If you look close, maybe you can see the door handle mounting surface. Left side, the early '63 mirrors are different.

Front- Bumper braces are thicker on the '63's

The correct rocker moldings for a '63 have 8 black lines. '64s have 3 thicker lines.

The wheel covers are the easiest way to tell them apart, providing they have stock wheel covers. Beyond that, the seat pattern and seat backs are different, as well as the console, shifters and gauges.

As gb references, the gauges are an easy clue from a distance if you can see the interior.

Great info guys. Thank you. I always that 63 and 64 had identical gauges and that the gauges changed in 65.

63's have "cookie sheets" in the insert on the hood, 64's do not.

'63s have more fake stuff and useless trim on them than the '64s do. GM kept trying right through the C2 series until they got it right in '67!

Yeah, the 67 was so right that they changed the body style in 68.
