Default Selling the '61

After owning my '61 Jewel Blue for 29 years, I will be parting with it this Saturday. The buyer is a avid Corvette restorer and will probably take it to a higher level with some upgrades to the wheels, tires, brakes.
It is a bit hard to see it go but I am at the point in my life that I feel I need to downsize. I still have the '57 (avatar) and a '86 Coupe.

Great looking 61, but understand all too well about "downsizing".

If it wasn't a matter of money, ..... I would have parted with the C-4. I think the 61 is the " crown jewel " of the C-1s. The color is fantastic also. Your going to miss this car.

That's a beautiful looking car. Hard to imagine "taking it to a higher level". That need to downsize is a forceful motivator, but, after having that car for so long, it'll be hard to let it go. The passage of time will help though. Best of luck to you as you go through that "mourning" process

I feel your loss. I hope that it makes the new owner as happy as it made you for the past 3 decades.

I was searching for information related to Torq Thrust D backspacing and while looking for some pictures of Plasticman's car I came across this thread.

Well I'm Greg and I bought Art's car! It's a real privalege to own the car and it will be maintained as original as possible. I plan to add a set of period correct 15 inch rims, white letter tires and I know it is a rare combo, Jewel Blue with blue coves, but I'm gonna paint the coves white.

It's hard to see the kids leave home, but nice to know it's going to someone who will cherish it just as much as we did.
Like Leno says......we're just the caretakers for a time.

per previous discussion of coves, you might want to try a 'wrap' in the coves rather than a permanent color change.

You're probablly gonna laugh but I bought some white plasti-dip spray tonight... just in case I want to peel it off later.

A while back I black plasti-dipped the chrome wheels on my '97. Peeled it off the next day when I realized how much I like chrome.

I'm happy for both the buyer and seller. May this lead to a lifelong friendship.

Art emailed me several times before the sale, I agreed with his reasons for selling (reluctantly) as I went through the same throes before selling my '61 last summer. And, as you already know, you got a kickin' deal on the car

abdo, great looking car. It must have been tough decision. I am looking to buy my first Corvette, I want a C1. What was your thoughts on down sizing this one verses the others?

The C4 ('86 Coupe) is sort of my daily driver during the summer. For what I could have got for it if I sold it was not worth much even though it is in excellent condition. I still have a great C1 to enjoy.
