63 Repro Fuel Gauge
I installed all new small gauges a while back. I was recently stranded when I ran out of fuel even though gauge said half full. Under the tank I found where the ground wire tab had broken off the sender.
After repairing and Prior to re-installing the sender, I tested by key on and moving the float through the max full and max empty ranges.
My repro gauge however only reads from the full position to the 1/2 position.
My ammeter needle was clocked incorrectly and I had that fixed but now I am wondering if the fuel gauge is similar or if it is something else.
Anyone else have similar issues with these repro gauges?
not happy at all with these gauges.

I wouldn't have gone repros for the one-year-only 63 gauges. Lots of folks can fix up the originals. Bill Harrison or Corvette Specialties of Maryland (west)..

Bill has done a bunch of stuff for me but my car didn't have any of the originals.
in hind sight, yes I would have tracked down originals.
any other responses?

I wasn't clear but my point was that maybe you can send the repro gauges off to Bill (if he works on repros) and he can get them up to snuff... I realize that's like paying double but you are where you are with these problems.
Some of the repro instrumentation/sensors for our cars are crap from the start. I had a horribly designed 61 fuel tank sending unit and had to fix and reinstall the original.
