C2 Instrument Cluster Restoration Recommendation
Starting the restoration on my 65 and need the instrument cluster restored and all gauges tested.
Who do you recommend for this and who is reasonably priced?
Thanks!

That being said, cost depends on what you want done. If you want the "full monty", i.e., re-chroming, re-facing gauges, etc. that'll obviously cost more.
He'll do anything you want.

Corvette Specialties of MD West is also an excellent source. They're located in Palm Desert, California. They're also typically at Corvettes of Carlisle in August.

Thanks guys. Rick is a really nice guy and appears to do alot of them for corvette restoration shops.

He is a good guy. He told me that the gauge faces and rear of the cluster looked better than any he had seen on a C2 and cut the cost big time for not having to redo those areas.

Looking for someone to repair my 1963 Radio.

Joe Ray did the cluster for our Black Car. It looks great and everything works as expected. This was over 10 years ago, no problems.

I'm knee-deep into refurbishing my instrument cluster on my 66 coupe. My temp gauge is working, but from what I've read elsewhere, the dampening oil must have dried up, because the needle goes 'boing...oing...oing..oing' (think 'mouth harp') before it settles in. The gas gauge moves nice and slow. I have the cluster out (second time was MUCH easier than the first, so there's THAT). I'm reluctant to remove the gauge from the mounting bracket that it shares with the oil pressure gauge unless I have a pretty good shot at being able to inject some oil into the works.
So before I do that...
Does anyone know if it's possible to re-introduce some oil into the gauge, and if so, what type? I have some very thin synthetic oil that I use to lube small electric fan motors. It has a hypodermic-like tube, so if there's someplace where I can squirt it into the gauget, then I have a shot... And then any guesses as to how much - a drop? 1ml? 3ml?...
I can live with the boing oing oing... but I have the thing sitting in front of me, so now's the time. I'm not really looking forward to a third removal of the cluster.
