Default '66 327 300HP breather tube mounting postion

I'm wondering if I mounted the breather tube correctly this past weekend. The end of the tube has a hole in the top. Should it be mounted with a bolt somewhere on the intake manifold or did I do it right?

That's the right place, but there is a 1/4" x 20 tpi bolt about 3" long I think that secures it to the block. I don't know the head markings or any thing like that.

Curious about your return spring on the carb, mine goes to the front of the intake near the thermostat housing.

Thanks R66! I was wondering where the long bolt that Paragon sent me was for. I was pretty sure it was for the breather tube. The return spring was mounted that way with the other intake. I'll switch it!

When you install the accelerator spring correctly you'll need one of these to bolt to the intake manifold.

Photo below shows the correct vent tube with the "long bolt" (1/4"-20 by about 2-1/2" or 3") attaching its lower end to the engine block opening, and the 5/16"-18 x 1/2" bolt through the tab welded to the tube into the existing tapped hole in the intake manifold.

Your breather tube looks like it may be from a C1 not C2. Also long bolt thru neck at engine is missing.

And don't forget the gasket that goes on the breather tube first against the block.

If you want it to work right the whole crankcase has to be sealed. Oil fill tube, dip stick, breather tube, air cleaner in place and no leaky gaskets.

No vacuum leaks.
