Lost the shims out of the left trailing arm!
Mine is a 64 and I do not have holes on either sides of the frame to insert a cotter key through the shims to keep them in place. How do I keep from loosing the shims again? Thanks
Any pictures where to drill a hole through the frame?

Use the correct 2 hole shims. OR
Drill a hole through the frame for the 6"--8" cotter pin used in 69 and up Corvettes to retain the slotted shims. OR
Get the double hole shims and modify them with a notch on one end so the shim will slide over the bolt.

Not having a slot in the shim is a lot of work to remove or replace. What I did was, rotate the shims where they fit just inside the opening leaving a little of the shims end outside. This kept them wedged in and from sliding out.

Melting Slicks
If the new bushings were not installed and compressed properly, replacing the shims will not cure the problem. They will always be loose. Even the angle slotted shims will work loose. Read about this at the link below.

Use the slotted shims for ease of installation. Fit the shims down in the T/A frame pocket to keep from backing off and falling out. Drill through both sides if frame to install long cotter pin or long black tie-wrap to secure shims.
