original fiberglass 1959 corvette go kart
do anyone know what this go kart would be worth? I am told that they were given away back in 1959 when you bought a corvette and that they were made by the same corvette body manufacture. Any thoughts?

I bought a turquoise body, 58 or 59 , last fall for fifty dollars. It was hanging in a cart shop. A company in Michigan by the name of Yard Man built the initial production for Chevrolet. Dealers had them for promotional purposes. New the price was around $150.00. Later the company sold the frame and running gear through Sears at a lower price. The length was nine or ten inches longer than the standard go karts of the day. One was in style if your son or daughter had one to drive.

The Yardman Go Carts have been discussed on the Forum many times, both in the C1/C2 Section, and in the Diecast & Collectible Section.
Yardman made Corvette Go Carts for Chevrolet from 58-62. In 63 they replaced the Corvette body with a replica of the Corvair Monza GT (the XP-797 dream car, not the production Corvair Monza). They were offered to Chevrolet dealers to use for display, to sell, and for other promotional purposes. They were also used as give-a-ways at new car shows, and at travelling Chevrolet displays.
Below is a 1961 Hertz Rental Car ad showing the 1961 Yardman Corvette, and a Chevrolet raffle ticket from a 62 promotional give-a-way of a Yardman cart.
