AK install for 54 top at Carlise - question?
Before I call and bug the great lady at AK, I have a few questions I'm sure someone already knows the answer to.
I have my appointment booked and deposit paid for a convertible install on my 54.
I have complete frame, all latches etc. I plan on having them painted up and ready to go for the show for the install.
1) does the frame need to be preinstalled? Or will they install the frame?
2) my frame is good shape but needs paint. Should it be painted the proper beige or is powder coating a good thing to have done or something to be avoided?
I can post pictures of the frame and all the pieces I have tomorrow so hopefully I can arrive at the show prepped properly for what they need.
Thanks in advance.
Steve
I did send an email to Coffmans corvette's re: powder coating my frame, but from looking at their site thye seem to only work on 56 and up...😢

1. - either way.
2. powder coating is awesome - I have had several tops PC - Vette Daddy on here PC all of his.
Big question - how are the tack strips? and are you sure you have the correct top - there were two types of tops for the 54

I will post up detailed pictures of my frame this afternoon...I don't know the difference between the two types, except I did have flipper moldings come with it.
Pictures will likely help tell the tale.
Thx again in advance

Spoke to two very nice gentleman today. Clint at Coffmans corvette and Steve Newsome. It is nice when you speak to very knowledgeable helpful people.
Coffmans will be able to restore my frame in time for Carlise!
And Mr. Newsome will be able to do my curtains!
I have thrown in some photos of my frame and mounting points on the car to see if I am missing any pieces I would need before Carlise..
Thanks for your expertise guys..

Who ever installs your top dont have then make it super tight like many shops do, or it will not fit again after you have had it packed down for a while .I had a local shop install mine for $600 and it always fits when putting up and water tight So So Ha!
