66 KO Hubcap won't re seat.
Is there a "trick" to getting the little spinner hub caps back on the Western Wheel Repo KO wheels? I've already destroyed one trying to get it back on. Tried PVC pipe and a block of wood, but they won't even start to hammer in. Maybe I should try the dremel tool on the hub or something..lubricant?? Dishwashing soap? HELP!!
Thanks.

Is everything stock? Did they go on before? They snap in easy when everything is correct. Doesn't sound like something is the correct part.

Don't know what "stock" means..The wheels are Western Repro Knock Offs (spinner holds the wheel on) and the hub caps are the same one all the Corvette houses sell.

I meant are they the same caps that have been on the wheels before or did you replace spinners or caps. They should snap in with a hit with the heel of your hand

There are a bunch of different repros of those caps out there and some just don't work well. You may have to get some from another source. I've found the ones stamped out of thinner metal seem to work best. The thick ones are just impossible to work with.

Have you tried using your six pound Mother Thumper lead hammer on it?
If you hit it hard enough and smash it into submission, it ought to stick on there just fine.
PS. Have you read the directions?

I'm confused by your terminology - are you talking about installing the light-gauge 2"-round emblem that snaps into the circular recess in the spinner, or about the threads not matching between the spinner (female threads) and the hub adapter (male threads)? Or are you trying to thread a right-hand thread spinner onto a left-hand thread hub adapter?
Nice to see you posting again.

I think he is talking about the center caps that snap into the spinner. They need to be completely round and get the rubber suction cup from Zip. The center caps that were on my car when I bought it were not round. I trashed them, bought new ones and the suction cup and they are very easy to remove and reinstall. Use the suction cup for the reinstall.
JohnZ, it sure is nice to see you posting here daily.

[B]Guess I should have asked how do you get the (little 2") caps off without damaging them.Is that what the Zip suction cup is for. Just stick it on them and pull them off? I was able to repair the three I removed with a small screwdriver and get them back on. Not so with the one I used the 6 lb lead hammer on...as Mike suggested....then I did read the instructions. LOL

Use the suction cup. Anything else is a recipe for frustration.
