While can appreciate the 44 year old "artistry", you'd really have to be in love with the car to drive it around that way (it wouldn't be me). Would you buy it to show it that way or "put it in a museum"? I didn't think so. So being an original car other than the paint, I'd have to factor in the price of a new black paint job, which to me puts his asking price way out of the realm of reality for putting it back to stock. The black rear wheels aren't helping things, either.

Well....It is a Corvette.
If you hurry, you may be able to sell yours and still be able to purchase this one! LOL!
Those hallucinogens must have played quite a bit of havoc on people's minds. I must have missed out!

I was under the impression that cars like these came with a lifetime supply of LSD so that it continues to look good....

Back then, paint jobs like that were cool, and somewhat common. Racing stripes, pinstriping, geometrics, lace, and full-out custom jobs like that one were the way to go for some folks.
Some people like them still, some don't. I can certainly appreciate it as a timepiece, but would not decide to do that to one today.
EDIT: I'll put a pic in for those who don't have time to follow the link!

Not sure on the '64, but I can spend hours on BAT.
I love cars from all over the world, I mean a Bora, an S600, an SM, a 1300 Junior Zagato and a '62 GT Hawk! How could you not love it!
My wife always worries when she sees me on BAT...

Yea you really missed the boat on that one. Clearly you should have waited
When I read your thread's title, I thought you were going to say you found issues with the new car

I think it is a great car. I would strip it to bare glass and have it painted black again in a heartbeat. Put some nice Cragar S/S or TT D's on her and boom there it is.

Don't know if I could ever buy a car from an advertised dealer. Course many owners are side dealers. Most specialty car sales dealers ask and get the last dollar value in the vehicle. Usually no warranty / guarantee on the wording or mechanical of the advertised vehicle. They " show & shine " the highlights making positively everyone in the world aware by flooding advertisements . If you think you got a deal, ...... your the one willing to pay the highest value of thousands of interested buyers.
I still like meeting owners, getting the history, what they know about past problems, and what they believe may be in store for future maintenance points. Dealers are interested in 100% profit. Many owners want their " children " to go to a good home. Buyers remorse is higher on the scale at auctions and classic dealers. Many will not admit it but its in the back of their mind. The questions follow, what do you think my car is worth ? or whats the market on this years model ?
The buying process with many is an accelerated process. This aids the detailers pointing out the features attractive to new buyers with less experience. Having patience, waiting , looking, and a wide approach to acceptable models / options is a valuable tool for a purchase one can be at ease with.

When I was a teenager (early 70's) me and my buddies loved cars like this. What was I on? Now I'm so plain-jane I dont even like white-walls!

I doubt a ridler winner laid out that paint job even in the custom era. There's nothing innovative about it and the flame design is poorly done. Tons of old rod and custom and similar magazines show the real highest level of that craft in the day.
The price is overblown and so are the claims. I bet this car is marked up 120%. Someone will "talk them down" into the $50's and get skinned!
greg- you did ok!

Cannot recall ever seeing this car. In some way I kind of like it, over the top for sure.

I like custom paint jobs from that era, just not this one. I don't care for the color and I don't like how un-cohesive it all is. The white dividing stripe at the belt line destroys the flow of the car completely. The wheels all around, and stance, are just wrong. Some period Americans or Cragars would help this car a lot. I think for the price, it may be a fair deal. It would definitely be a sound buy for 10 k less.
