Muffler choice
I just bought a 64. My first vette. Any suggestions on muffler type or manufacturer? I like a nice sound but not crazy loud. Thanks

This is a not-infrequent topic. Consider searching for prior similar threads.
Sound is subjective, but what too many forget is that your engine configuration has a significant effect on your exhaust sound.
What that means is that what may sound good on another guy's car may sound like crap on yours, so be advised. Even your intake manifold influences your exhaust sound.
If you like an original 60's power sound, consider the OEM of-road mufflers that was an option on these cars (N11).
If you want a more modern sound, consider Magnaflows or similar.

Just an FYI I replaced my original N11 off road exhaust with a replacement off road system from Allen's exhaust and it was/is too quiet. I know my original exhaust was a bit rusted out but I really miss the noise. suggest hearing whatever you are considering before purchasing.

My 68 327 L79 I have MagnaFlow which is nice
But my 64 327 L76 I put an Allen's Stage II exhaust and it sound sooooooo sweet.
Some Camera Phone Videos that hardly do it justice

As you can see, you will get as many recommendations as there are muffler brands. The best way to decide is to listen to them on a car. If you can, go to a large Corvette gathering and try to listen to as many similar cars as yours with the different mufflers installed. Then pick the one that sounds best to you. Talk to car owners and ask them to start their car. Most will happily oblige. BTW, I prefer Flowmaster

But be sure to understand their engine (most certainly the cam set up but also carb, compression ratio, what type heads, etc.) and exhaust set up (2.0" vs 2.5", H or X pipe, intake heat riser blocked or open, and thermal exhaust butterfly damper valve or not, etc.).
Because if you don't you may be surprised when your doesn't sound like the one you heard that you wanted yours to sound like.
