Default Can someone help me with vent windows?

I'm having trouble installing new weatherstripping and the window. The glass just doesn't seem to seat properly and they don't turn easily.

I'm looking to ship them off and have someone more experienced set them up. I'm thinking I'm missing something or not doing it right.

My weatherstripping is from Corvette Rubber. I think I got them from Zip.

I'd rather send them out. If an expert thinks it's the weatherstripping then we will follow that road. I just decided I need help. Being ill, I'm going to need help to get the car back on the road.

Just not sure who does it or if one of the members here could help.

Getting it to work smoothly is the easy part we couldn't get the rubber and outside molding to work correctly .
I gave up the reason I did it was pitting on the molding and chrome
wanted it to look nice turned out a nightmare .
For a small cost I send it to someone who does it all the time

I had Charlie Santorelli (Seatbelt City) do mine. He actually has a local pardner in crime he will farm them out to, but don't expect him to reveal his name. I am very happy with the results. I don't recall the price but it was very reasonable. You will want to box and cushion your frames very well.

I may have figured it out. I had the strips reversed. Left on right and vice Versa. Still want to send them off. These vent windows have bugged me ever since the first build a decade ago. I'm obsessed with having them work right. Partly because I'm nuts, but mostly because I have no A/C.

I also struggled with mine. The weatherstrip was difficult to seat, and would not stay put. I used some 3/16" key stock to fit in the grooves and clamped them down with c-clamps. I also added some weatherstrip adhesive before clamping them.

If that doesn't work, I would think you would be able to find someone locally to help you out. Maybe a glass shop or a restoration shop. Anyone with experience.

I had them swapped left to right. They are still really tight but I think it's just because the rubber is new. Strangely, the metal tabs did grab once I had them correct. Now I need to find some new screws for the post. Not seeing them in the LIC catalog.

Sometimes I hate working on these damn cars!

Supposed to be rivets, huh?

It never ceases to amaze me, the journey of these cars. Somebody way back, drilled and tapped those holes and found tiny little flat screws.

I think the screws are correct the rivets are in another area.
Is ok now if your missing screws just match up If the gasket stays there when you crank it out then your OK
