1966 Oem factory clear plastic floor mats
Hi I bought a 66 vette. 5 years ago I'm looking now for years 4 to be exact. too buy the mats that came with the car from factory. Can any one please tell me first. We're thy think I may find a pair. Second does any one have a clue how much should someone be asking for a set of mint floor mats. Drivers and passengers. Can someone please tell me there not hard to find that not expensive and I have just been looking in the wrong places. I mean literally 4 years i look every Sunday. Not only that when I search on Google. Nothing even comes up. Am I looking and wasting my time? On a item I have no chance of finding? And if some one has a pair/set. Roughly what should I pay. Can a pair of silly plastic floor mats be more than ?300 is that to much to offer someone if I find someone who has a pair. Thanks.

As Nowhere Man said, clear floor mats were never available from the factory, they were strictly a dealer installed option.
Your chances of finding a pair of original clear mats that haven't "yellowed", is pretty slim. Original mats are almost always yellowed from age. Decent used original mats usually go for $100-$300 a pair, depending on condition.
There are also very nice repro's available, from all of the Corvette vendors for about $70 a pair.
A friend of mine did have some original mats, and may still. I've sent you a PM with his contact info.

Not all "original" mats are equal. Most are service replacements or are later reproductions.
Vintage mats from the 1960's period had the part numbers embossed on the backside.............look for them.

Call one of the big dealers (pro team corvette mike etc etc) and I bet you will have a set by next weekend. I wouldn't spend the big $$ on them. JMHO

As said look for the GM part number on them. Someone had a NOS set at Carlisle last year not yellowed or hard sold for $800.00 I never saw another set in 30 years. The repros are trash they fall over your feet.

A few cents worth of Velcro fixes that and no one knows the difference.

Original Gm mats had the part numbers on the underside in the middle on the bottom of the mats. IIRC 1713 and 1714. The originals were twice the thickness of the reproductions. Also, original mats had 90 square edges to them, whereas repops were angled/slanted at the edges. The repops slide all over the place. Originals stay in place. They, as was pointed out already, were a dealer installed item on some cars. Some dealers put them in as a standard prep for all new cars....Some sold them to the new buyers.........ARA
