K&N vs. Paper filter - what are you running?
I've used K&N but this article is interesting. It tested a bunch of filter brands and K&N did not do well in dirt retention or in air flow.

Then again, I've had one on my truck that just turned 190k miles...

I've used K&N on my cars since 1994. Replacement filters on my '75 and current '66 Vettes, a '98 Honda (203k miles), '04 Grand Cherokee (153k miles), '04 Infiniti G35X (85k miles) and my brand new '17 Grand Cherokee (3k miles). I know some guys will chime in and say they are crap, but as long as you clean and oil them regularly, I think they are great. When you live at almost 7000 feet elevation, you need all the Air you can get going into the engine.

I run a car quest brand. I think Wix makes it

I run a fram air filter on my 67--honestly, not sure why one would deal with a K&N filter on an classic car. And I've read the articles as well, that question whether K&N is an effective air filter.
The only car I ever had one on, was my 94 Corvette which had a Lingenfelter engine conversion--it's what Lingenfelter used then.

Probably over oiled it. Never had that problem with any of my vehicles in almost 25 years using K&N filters. In my post above, I forgot to mention I used the replacement filter in both my Vettes and used the air intake systems in all my other vehicles.

Been using K&N's on the carbs on my '65 GTO since 1984.....the same filters. Got tired of replacing the paper filters every 4 months. Run paper in my other vehicles, but would run K&N if they had available filters for the other vehicles I have.

I run them in my old Vettes and in my Viper. They seem to work well plus, if I think my car is faster because of it it must be

Depends on how gullible you happen to be. With me, I was spending too much coin on new AC and Wix tripower filters, which had gone obsolete and were pricey in the early '80's. They were tiny little things, and would get restrictive in 4000-5000 miles, and that was when I was living on the coast. In 33 years of use, I have cleaned my K&N's about 3 times by bathing them in solvent, and have re-oiled them with simple ATF or Marvel Mystery Oil. The original cost of $25 or so for the three K&N filters would have been well over $100 in paper filters for the past 60,000 miles. No need to clean these often (they filter better when dirty) and no need for proprietary oil. But sign me up for a shot of single malt with a ZMax floater.....sounds excellent!!

Ha! There was always the kid down the street whose car I regularly whipped the snot out of. Every time he washed it he swore it was running better so I'd have to humiliate him again. Got to be a running joke with my 'posse'...
NAPA has (non-original) air filters for both of my cars on the shelf....the '61 dual quad filter used to get nasty real quick; the '63 seems to go a LONG time. Neither item is rare fortunately...

Paper here, don't figure I will ever put enough miles on the car to clog it.

For my Vette and Viper I use K&N they spend lots of time at WOT.
For my two 4x4 trucks I use paper. They see a lot of dust.
