I bought a 1957 project that the original frame was converted to C4.
I "believe" there's a difference between certain years.
How do I determine the difference in the two.
My frame where the two studs from the upper A Arm mount are not the same Heighth, the rear hole is lower. The front suspension that is complete and came with car has
The two holes for the upper A Arm are the same height
Any help would be great
Obviously this is for Resto Mod guys

For early thru '87 uppers I believe the "flats" of the shaft are parallel to the ground and '88+ the "flats" are vertical to the ground. By flats I mean the surface between the mounting bores to the bolts.
The '84 C4's had an aluminum plate that was attached to the top of the lower A arm in front. The shocks and sway bar were attached to this plate. The later model's shocks and sway bars were attached directly to the A arm. Not sure when the change over was made.
Here is a picture of a '94 suspension.

Reason: added picture
The a arms point lower in the rear on all C4s. It's called anti dive. As Charles says the early suspension has a plate where the shock attaches to the lower control arm, front. On the rear if the shock mount is straight up and down its later if it's angled it's early. On the rear if the emergency brake is made in the caliper it's later if it's internal and has the shoe type e brake it's early.
