Default Flatbed or Vehicle Shipping Service - Arlington, VA/DC

I am having my 67 shipped back to my Mom's house in NJ for a year or so since I am moving to MD this month and don't have adequate parking right now. I got a quote from PlyCar for $615.00 - Arlington, VA to Lawrenceville, NJ (Central NJ near Princeton). Seems like a lot, but I know they are a good shipper.

Anyone know a good flatbed company or local shipper that might be good to use? I thought about driving the car up myself, but with the impending heat coming to the area she tends to act up sometimes plus not sure my back could handle it. LOL. Don't want to risk it since I am on a tight schedule with work.

Thanks,

Don

I would drive it............with a friend following me just in case. But I know you said you did not want to do that. Or find a YOUNG friend with a good back and let him drive and you follow.

I would contact Horseless Carriage and get a quote from them. They are NJ based I believe............and are a top notch company with enclosed carry.

Intercity is another quality shipper for our cars.

Give Applewood Motorcar a call. I have used them a couple times and I thought the price was reasonable.

You're going less than 200 miles. While most of us would drive, and have a buddy follow, another option is if you have a pickup or a large SUV, get a U-haul car transporter trailer. Or if you have a buddy with one who wants to do a road trip.

If you go up and back, you have it gone about 7 hours so you'd only be renting it for a day, and do it as a local rental. That would be fairly cheap.

With my discounts I can get a U-Haul 24 hour rental, round trip for around $48 and there are always plenty available... Why would you pay $100s more ?

If you don't have a truck to pull it, maybe a friend does

Thanks for the suggestion. Only other car I have is a C7 but plenty of rental car places around here. Will look into it.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Ended up going with Intercity, and off she went at 3pm today. Called, booked and less than 24 hours later they had a truck ready to pick up.
Hopefully I can get up to NJ more often so I can take her out on some less crowded roads! :-)
