Sounds like your wife is starting to ask too many questions What's wrong with sitting in the garage and looking at your car or having a few of the guys over for a cocktail??? Car shows or cruise nights with a folding chair sounds pretty good too. Spending time in the garage is alot better than spending time in bars or casinos. I suppose you can tolerate alot more as she is a physician adding significantly to the household income My wife had a big job (College Vice President) and it definitely helps the cause.
My cars are all inside and her new car sits outside, but I do detail it regularly for her to redeem myself.

2009 we went to the Black Hills Corvette Classic in SD, and in one of the activities we were able to make one pass down the Sturgis drag strip. She was going to watch but I insisted she ride along, which was allowed. She was lukewarm to the idea but said why not.
Below is the result:
As I showed her the timeslip, she asked what we would have to do to go faster next time!

My wife of ten years loves the cars, loves to drive, loves to bang gears, she did Spring Mountain 3 day with me. My problem, been through at least a hundred Corvettes and muscle, she doesn't want to sell any. No practical place for garage at home, bought a small warehouse. I love the chase.

My wife only ask me to get her door for her. I think thats all she expects out of me whenever we take the corvette out. She has driven it... She drove it like a 4 banger from the 80s/70s. Short shifting.

You are so lucky! I have a 65 roadster and an 05 coupe and my wife hates them both. I've had the 05 for 12 years and the 65 for a few - she's never even sat in the 65! I'd love to be able to share the pleasure I get from owning and driving both cars!

I could go out and build another building, or add on, but what's the point? You can never build them large enough. What I need to do is get rid of all the crap I'll probably never use or need!

Thank you for this thread!!! I think it may save my marriage again.
I was willing to sacrifice the cars for LOVE (LUST) of a girl, then marriage. The wild passionate love ended with the conception of our first child. My second LOVE (cars) was delayed due to Uncle Sam's free vacation in east asia. She was there with our son when I got home. Jodi didn't get her.
Got back to the world and after a few months bought the first new family car I could afford - 71 VEGA. NO VETTE.
After 34 monthly payments and another child, pulled the 4 banger out of the Vega and the 283 out of my $184 64 El Camino to do a swap. She was out there to help when the housework, kids, and pets didn't take precedence. No longer had time for LOVE in the bedroom of the mobile home, all LOVE / LUST was in the garage with a dirt floor with the car.
Went racing with the Vega and she wanted to race too. Thus, 67 Camaro with my unbroken leftovers from the Vega (350 now with a M21 and 12 bolt). LOVE was on the track, no time in the bedroom, but who has time for it wrenching two cars??? Our greatest fans were out daughter and son.
The race cars had to go to get life insurance to make sure the kids went to college (bad mistake).
Restoration of three 1st Gen Camaros gave me the LOVE I needed to survive the marriage that was originally based on LOVE (really LUST) for another couple of decades or so.
After I retired, a C2 came up for auction at a local auction house touted to be all original with 45K miles. I bid and quit and she kept bidding.
Tonight I am sitting here, retired, and have three LOVERS (two Camaros and R66) and my BEST FRIEND of 50 years (the WIFE). She even gave up her SOAPS to help pull the motor and trans 3 times out of R66.
Life changes, and you must have a BEST FRIEND to survive the transition, although I still long for the OLD DAYS of wild passionate LUST.

Lotsa' comments about how I should just build another garage, I am just trying to praise my wife and her wanting to share my passion on this thread. Like ChattanoogaJSB and Capevettes stated above, the fact that my bride is a physician does point to her adding monetarily to the household. Since I took the hit (back then) of helping put her through medical school she (now) takes care of the mortgage and the utilities at our place. I feel lucky that she lets me restore this old Sting Ray of mine in her garage.

(however my wife and I met when she started residency so I missed the med school years. People ask if I'm a doctor, and I invariably reply "no, I just play one on TV.")

WOW, I am getting ready to go to DEBTOR'S PRISON in Illinois as I don't own half the real estate that DZAUTO has in concrete. Happy for him though. Where are the burnouts done??
My wife is not a doctor, however, she has diagnosed every problem I have. Don't tell her she is wrong of you will pay.
She was a car girl until her leather Lazy Boy rocker recliner and the Soaps took over. More sex on TV than in the house.
At least I have the cars.

You made a big mistake!! When your wife asked about the trailer your reply should have been: Well yes a trailer might be needed and a new HD truck to pull it as well. Those questions were all "buying sounds".
I have a great wife when it comes to car related things (aren't all things related to cars?).
Once we "talk about something" she already knows it will most likely happen. She has learned not to ask!!

So this damn car of mine ... '66 Coupe, 8 years of ownership, 3 of those where I actually drove the car before somebody ran into it, therefore triggering a frame-on restaeux ...
I keep digging deeper ... and deeper ....
But I feel that I am at a point where I can start coming out of the disassembly stage and enter into the much more desireable reassembly stage. And then my wife walks in ...
And she starts asking questions ...
Such as:
"How much longer are you going to be on this car ?"
"Will I ever be able to put MY new car in OUR garage ?"
"When it's done, are you going to spend every Saturday sitting next to it in some lawn chair at some car show ?"
"When it's done, are you going to call your friends over and have them stare at it in the garage while you share that Bourbon you overpaid for ?"
"Are we going to have to budget for an enclosed trailer so that you can cart this car to these shows that you won't dare drive to ?"
I assured here that there are no plans for a trailer in our future, she can get her Volkswagen station wagon back in the garage and she can load the dogs into it when the weather is bad and that I have extended the effort to make the car cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter, easier to start, gauges and lights that work correctly and that I will continue to (as I have previously) drive it to work at least twice a week.
And then, the last question she asked :
"So when it's finished ... Can I still drive it ?"
Now to me, that is the best question that my wife could ever ask me. She has driven the '66 before, she tells me that she's a little scared of it but she loves driving a four-speed, she likes that it's so unusual and as a doctor she loves calling on her doctor friends, picking them up in this car and scaring the crap out of them.
I think that one of the best things that you can do with these old cars of ours is share it with your significant other and enjoy the thrill of seeing them enjoy your passion as much as you do.

We did. I have a new shop and a four post lift and a near complete car waiting for all the new chrome to be installed. She says all I need now is a 2017 Vette Coupe to park next to it!!! Now that's a good woman!

That's great. My wife has always encouraged me with my 63' and never asked once how much anything costs for it. She just says hey your original steering wheel looks in bad shape, you are going to replace it aren't you? Oh, and that glove box door needs to be replaced too! She told me that when we move to AZ we'll build a shop for the car where you can work on it in comfort.
