Rechrome bumpers
Looking to re-chrome the rear bumpers on my 67. I don't want reproduction or exchange bumpers. I want mine back to assure fitment.
Need suggestions on who to use for re-chroming. I want a good job, my bumpers back, reasonable lead time, and no drama or excuses.
Thanks,
Jeff

Not sure if your willing to ship them out to Ca. but, the shop that did mine did an excellent job. Price, if I remember correctly, was around $300.00 each and turn around time was about a month. This was last year.
Yours, of course, would be a bit more due to shipping.
PM me if you'd like they're info. Good luck.

Hard to believe its Sherms at that price and only a month lead time. They just quoted me $500 per corner and 14 weeks. I decided to have Ogden Chrome pick up some chrome last week.

Virginia Vettes used to do them for about $200 each and had positive reviews on the forum.

I've had good luck with Sherms.
They usually do have a significant wait period, but I think that's simply due to them performing quality work.
They may be more expensive, but unfortunately, I tried the "cheaper" route a few times.
Then I go back to them (Sherms), and I'm already in the hole from the previous economy job.

Jeff, have you ever checked out Chrome Wizard in Mt Juliet TN? They do a terrific job and have a pretty good turn around time.
Also Librandi's Plating in Middletown, PA does a superb job. They are at Carlisle every year and I would consider them a bit more high end as well.
Good luck... GUSTO

Librandi's and Pauls did all my chrome...back in the mid '80's. Price then is not relative to now. Everything still looks new. Dennis

Advance Plating in Nashville, TN does great work. They do a lot of top end show car plating.
I've used them, mostly for MC part plating an they were in the same price range as other's back then.
Will be using them for plating on my current C2 build for 1.0" sectioned in piece(s) on front Bumpers due to widening frontend 1.0" on each side, and welding in 1.0" pie cut piece(s) on rear bumpers due to rolling out rear 2.5" body flared rear qtrs at bottom to provide tire coverage on rear for wheels with more expose wheel hoop.
Should you for some reason have a problem you can drive over and work it out in person, not on a phone. About a 2.0 HR drive for me with road work in my area.

For future re-chroming (if interested) call me and I'll give you the info. on the shop I used. I didn't post it since wasn't sure if it would be allowed.
I too, have used Sherms and, agree that they do great work. That said, IMO the shop Brian referred was every bit as good, took at least half as long and were much more reasonably priced.
As to using Virginia Vettes, (as mentioned by Easy Rhino) I tried them last year and, was VERY disappointed. My bumpers only had VERY slight pitting and were a bit dull. When I first received them I could still see almost all of the pitting. Sent them back and, basically received the same product again so, I used the aforementioned shop.
Like paint, a lot of the re-chroming process is in the prep. If not done properly the pits and, any other defects remain and, show up after the re-chroming process.

The shop is located in SOUTH Sac. near Hwy 99 and the 47th Ave. exit.
Probably 30 minutes from Lodi.....on a good day, that is.
