Borgeson Power Steering feedback please
Getting ready to order a Borgeson Power steering kit for my '66.
Sounds like there are a ton of you guys who have already done this..
Do you like it? I'm worried it will adversely affect the way the car handles...TOO responsive even darty...
If you did it are you happy? Would you do it again? Thumbs UP or....Thanks.

C2 of the Year Finalist - Modified 2020
My '67 never had PS, so my 3yr old Borgeson conversion was exactly what I hoped for. I would do it again! Dennis

I put it in on my non PS 67 a year ago, and absolutely love it! Would definitely do it again!
It uses a modern progressive boost steering box, so it is not over boosted or darty at all. It has no boost at center, and gives progressively more boost with more input. Also, having PS allows both use of the fast ratio postion and more caster which improves straight line tracking. Both of those greatly improve the feel of the car.
Lastly it also enables the use of a 15" diameter steering wheel, which eases ingress and egress.
It's a close second to the Tremec 5 spd for best improvement I've made to the car - and maybe only because I did the trans first!
Yup - I'd do it again in a heart beat!

I have it on my '67. It's been there for probably 6+ years now.
I drive it everywhere, drag race it and even ran 200 MPH with it a few months ago. Definitely drives fine and handles great. Much better than OEM.
Dial in some extra caster in the alignment and really enjoy it.

While they make both for the C2 - mine is the power version. I drove mya car for 41 years with the standard non-power steering - It was time to go power! The power version uses the standard C2 power steering pump!

I have Steeroids P/S rack also and I love it. Some people like the look of a plain steering box but I think the rack $ pinion is the way to go, JMO.

The Borgeson is a great upgrade. In your case (66 and older), you have to cut off the end of the steering shaft a couple of inches to fit the new box. Not easy, but doable if you are willing. The 67 and up have a collapsing style shaft that can be adjusted instead of cutting.

I rebuilt my PS system and then a few years later upgraded to the Borgeson box.. I wish I had gone with the Borgenson box the first time. Very happy with it..

You can order a pre cut replacement shaft on an exchange basis.

You'll need the pulley and the belt. I got mine from Volunteer Vette and they had the pulley, but the belt you need to buy locally after you get the final set up. The pulley bolts on top of the pulleys already on the balancer unless you already have an extra there.

I found my block (63 340hp) had some flashing that needed to be ground off to allow the pump bracket to sit exactly flat. I didn't notice this at first and the pump leaked until I figured this out. Also, the additional caster may require offset a arm mounts. I was lucky and could move shims around without introducing negative camber.
Love the results, worth the effort.

Sawzall from harbor freight trimmed my shaft () in no time with a new blade. Like butter.
I am doing ball joints and control arm bushings before I have the extra caster set in and I will say an alignment is a MUST with the new added caster. Right now I have a feel like old GM over assisted PS. Just saying.
