Hey what are friends for
So I let my friend borrow my car for a few days and this is how he brought it back...So here's my question for some opinions. My car is a NOM small block. I really like the look of the big block cars. Since the whole thing needs to be rebuilt and painted would it be weird to throw a big block hood, emblems and side exhaust on it?

Is the person still your friend? Is he gonna pay for the big block? Easiest way is to get a 383... But even a BB clone is cool to see. Did the insurance cover it? I wonder how close it was to be totaled and paid out. Not sure if that really is enough to cover a complete payout???

I'd do the hood for sure. but I think adding BB emblems is taboo. BTW: I like the early BB hood better than the '67.

66 hood or stinger? You car is a dead ringer for mine....and I just took a stinger hood OFF, because I didn't like it..like a tuxedo at a square dance...no big block...no big block hood.

Messy. Not that big a fan of the BB hoods.
You seem a very good-natured, forgiving sort.....all things considered.

I think it's your car and it would be ok to switch things over to BB style as long as you disclose that in any attempt to sell right off the bat.
What the hell did your friend do to end up with that mess?

No one was hurt thats the main thing. He was honest about it. Power shifted 2nd and the back end came around and he lost it. Its unfortunate for sure. He's helped lots on the car over the years quarterbacking some big projects I didn't feel comfortable doing by myself. He's probably more upset about it than I am. If I did a BB hood it would be the 66 style.

First, I hope your friend is already as with the other people involved in the accident (assuming he didn't hit a guard rail or tree).
If you're going to keep a small block in it, I would have the paint shop fit and paint both a small block and big block hood. Then if you ever decide to put to back to being a small block the paint already matches and the work is done. Same goes if you decide to sell it and the next person prefers something different.
As with emblems that's your call. When it comes to exhaust if you have a crate motor or NOM in there anyway then you can do as you please with customizing as you see fit.
Best,
Dave

Since it is a NOM, I see no problem with you preference for a 65-66 style BB hood. If it were me, I'd skip the BB emblems unless you put a BB motor in the car.
