Default Head light adjustment

One of my headlights does not completely open. It goes up about 80%. Need some help understanding how to adjust it fully open.

Did your headlight go up to full extend in the past, then your problem isn't in adjusting but your motor is gued up and in for a rebuilt.

If your headlight just goes full power to 80% and then suddenly stops it could be the Y stop adjustment but I highly doubt anyone would ever set it to that position and leave it like that.

Its just as likely the large pot metal main gear is galled and can't drive passed the damage teeth. The motor rebuilt is a pleasant but back-breaking Saturday task. If the OP wants I'll post an article on the process or he can search for it...its been much discussed here...

Default Head light

The headlight worked well. The car went in for paint. I wonder if the painter adjusted it to partially open. I'd like to read the article that was offered. Thanks for the help.

The adjustment is only for fine adjustment. If you spin the hand wheel can you open the door? If you can then then you need to rebuild. If you can't spin it then there is other problems

The headlight motor is easy to remove. I'd pull it out and swing the headlight bucket. If it goes full up and down with light hand pressure, your motor has an issue. Pilot Dan

My "66" motor gear chewed up and spindle ***** frozen on shaft. Needed gear puller to remove. When off spindle ***** slid on and off with ease. Go figure

That's the real way to tell what's going on...
