Default (C2) New Detroit Speed Suspension Systems

I've known for the past two years that Detroit Speed was designing new suspension systems, but I had no idea there were introduced now! Has anyone seen these systems? . . . ordered them, or installed them yet? Any feedback?

Tom, I too was following along closely. They officially unveiled the whole shebang at Columbus a week ago. Although, their R&D car has been racing for over a year.

I'm sure its an excellent product, but waaaaayyyy too rich for my blood. At the price of the front and rear suspension system, you're easily 3/4s of the way to an aftermarket frame with C6 or C7 suspension set up.

Uh yeah... That's getting "up there" dollar-wise. I'm sure its excellent but if I were headed down that road it would be an entire 'roller' with engine/tranny/etc. in one package.

agreed.....I think they're looking at a very small segment that maybe already has a car in excellent shape that they don't want to pull the body off the frame for a custom frame, but would be willing to shell out that kind of cash for the most extreme bolt on solution you can get.

I suspect that anyone installing one of these, they have already spent $75-$100k on the car/restomod. Dennis

I agree. Pretty much a waste of a lot of money in my opinion. And it's not going to give you the results you are looking for.

Just buy a good set of tires and leave the suspension stock.

Waaaaayyyy too much money to invest in a stock frame.

Well years back , I decided to build my own 5 link from a friends plans. But with a new differential cost included and R&D time ..I "don't" they'll be making a killing on this $etup. Dick Guldstrand's kit was pricey also.

Ride tech did same...except you can't use stock brake calipers or stock wheels...I assume same is true here...

Makes more sense to get an SRIII...

Damn they have basically copied where I am going, but I have heims and will have telescoping halfshaft!

I have both a Guldstrand rear and a CVC-Apex set-up! According to Dick he only sold roughly just over 50 kits by about 2010 over all of the years and half to street rod guys! The CVC-Apex/Greenwood did about 38 units total!

But these are a lot shiner and probably will be better marketed, so I think they will surpass the two totals above with this Mod trend currently happening!

Reputation and marketing will a factor here for sure plus look at Detroit Speed's clients. Based on their builds money is not an issue.
I guess my question would be does a professional driver (Danny Popp maybe) have to be driving the car at 10/10ths to exceed the results one could get from the Van Steel set up?

I personally don't think it will be any type of advantage on either an Autocross or Road Course! I see this suspension being really in its element in Street/Road performance handling!

The flat autocrosses are mostly about tires and holding your camber, castor and toe settings!
On a road course with high speeds, I think the type of rod ends will give to much deflection upsetting the tire traction!

I have seen the test car at road Atlanta. It's a slick setup to be sure but priced beyond what mortals can pay and beyond what many who can pay WILL pay.

It it is still true today that shocks, springs, a proper rebuild, and a lower aspect, larger patch tire gives you "most" of what you could want for thousands (and thousands) less.

Actually, I'm with Keith. Save the money, buy another Corvette.

That's more than I paid for the Tube frame and C6 suspension under my 63 Conv.

Default DSE On my 63

As always the DSE products are on the TOP ende of the scale in many ways. Thought you'd enjoy my car builders slant on DSE products when he built my 63 SWC back in 2012/2013.

Anyone have details on exactly what that consists of? I've seen lots of articles on that car, but never once have they mentioned anything other than stock suspension with upgraded shocks.
