Default C2 incident

For those of you with NCRS TDB access, please wish Bruce Bursten (former member here) the best in repairing his car. His midyear engine grenaded while his wife was preceding him to a show yesterday at 60mph while he followed in a C1. Wife went off the road in a spin then into a ditch and she did a spectacular job of minimizing the damage.

Piston rod went through the oil pan

Very sorry to hear that. Hope she was OK. Bruce was supposed to visit me next week, hope he's still able to make the trip. I miss his posts on the forum......................he's a great guy.

Again, both Bruce and his wife are fine. It just goes to show you that you can be cruising along on a straight road on a sunny day and, BAM, things can go south, and quickly...

I can't imagine following your wife and watching her spin out and crash through a smoke cloud of greasy oil. I know that was scary!

Wow, that sucks.

Too bad she didn't pull over when it started making funny knocking noises. They seldom let go that bad without some warning.

Any pics of the incident/car? :

Some years ago my wife and I were moving our family from Texas to Arizona. My two sons were with me and she followed behind in our Volvo. Somewhere on a desolate stretch of I-10 she had a massive blowout in the left front tire. I watched in the mirror as my wife and mother of my sons swerved hard left and began to spin as she hit the grassy median. She spun down to the center of the median and then up and onto the oncoming lane of I-10. It seemed like slow motion. Fortnately there was a gap in traffic over there and she continued across and came to rest unharmed in the grass beyond the far shoulder. I had to drive another four miles to reach a turn around to get back to her (I was in a motorhome). ... It's quite harrowing to watch your spouse spin helplessly into the oncoming lane. And that was in a Volvo. ... Given that we're now exes, if it happened to me as it did for Bruce, I might be guilty of worrying about the Corvette as much as her.

I wish Bruce and his wife well in getting things back in order.

Well - the pics don't really show the damage which is primarily the engine it appears. Its just a pic of a yellow '65 coupe on a rollback with a tree branch stuck in the PS rear bumper.. I blanked out the license plate - not sure it matters but whatever...
