Looking for a particular 1964 coupe
Hopefully this community is willing to help a guy out. I'm beginning a search for a specific 1964 Coupe that was my late mother's car. Original was Silver Blue, dark interior, crank windows. It was traded to Graham Chevrolet in Mansfield Ohio in 1980 for a navy 1977 Monte Carlo. At that time it was more primer than paint, had some non-original "racing" motor (not a 327), had side pipes, modified non-flip headlights. This search is only at its beginning. I do not have any records, and pictures are hard to come by. I believe that the last plate the car was registered with was Ohio HIM-919 (white with blue letters). My mom loved this car--even raced it. She talked about it all the time when I was growing up, but it was gone shortly before I was born. I'd love to at least find out where it is or what happened to it. Ultimately, I'd love to bring it home. I appreciate your help!

You have almost no info. Probably best to start your search at Graham Chevrolet. Good luck with it.

I wish I had more, and I know I have next to nothing. I've contacted Graham in the past, and maybe I didn't talk to the right person, but they keep very limited records. Ohio BMV was fairly useless but may require a future in-person visit. I'm trying to get pics from a VHS transferred to digital.

Due to the latest privacy laws you'll have zero luck with the DMV in tracing prior owners and frankly, without a VIN number, finding much out is a long shot...

By chance do you know what insurance carrier covered the car? It's possible they would have the VIN. I just got a letter from my carrier thanking me for 50 years with them so at least SOME of their records do stay on file for a long time.

Talk to your Mom and Dad's friends if still around and see if they remember anything. They may give you another lead.
