Hotel room at 3am

If the woman legally owns the car I would have her and the cops take custody of it while I watched old reruns in the motel room and had breakfast at Dennys, I would have even paid for the rollback.
After a day's "cool down" period (and also because banks are open tomorrow) I would pick up the car at the ex-wife's house (or at least a separate location) and completed the transaction.
I hope all goes well but I don't understand the decision to be part of a contentious triangle in a confrontational domestic situation.

Wow, you are an adventurous and risk-taking man. You must really want that Corvette. Afterwards, I hope you don't ask yourself, "what was I thinking"? This has so many ways to go "wrong". As others have said, the suspense is killing us. Let us know the whole story, after you get there. Inquiring minds want to know.

The courts say it belongs to her. What is keeping him from taking parts, axing the body and selling any removable items. Appears to be in his garage. After all he has to know she is going to grab all the cash it can produce. His attorney can file for extensions, which is costly if the car is worth it. If he doesn't answer the door, no one has the authority to break in. Where I live police don't get involved in civil matters. The judge can make it clear by introducing sanctions for non compliance.
I agree, I would not get involved as only bad karma will follow. You have no idea how violent this can be, now or in the future.
If he doesn't shred the title and remove the VIN at a minimum he is not thinking. Losing the car is painful enough but to let a buyer tred on your dream is an ever lasting memory not soon forgotten. Your a brave soul. The other 90% of us would wait for the outcome for a peaceful transition.

Let's see, If it were my car and she got it in the divorce, she could have it - One Piece At A Time.
Who doesn't want a frame off restoration in progress and not knowing if all of the parts are there.
Good luck, you have brass ***** getting in the middle of a war between a car guy and his EX as she continues to torture him.
Watch for guns other than those the cops are carrying.

I am sooooo glad I kept my 67 in the divorce! Of course that was 21 years ago, after having been married for 25 years. The ex tried real hard to take it away, but I had clear title in my name alone, having owned it before the marriage. She was very emotional and confrontational about the issue, even criticizing the judge and her attorney in open session. Got her a warning about contempt of court!
Losing the car would have been worse than having another man involved.
Be careful - these situations can get very emotional. I hope all goes well for you.

This is interesting. Curious to see if the car is still even in the Guy's garage.

in a few hours, myself, her and a couple of police officers with a court order, will see if he will give up the car. He doesn't know we're coming either.
He might have gone to school with the local Barney Fife, and as you leave with it on a trailer you might get pulled over for something. Who knows what will be in that baggie they will happen to "find" under your seat?

Would be interesting if he's a member here, reads this, and as we speak the car is being trailered under a tarp to his buddy's place in the next county! FWIW in cases like this I've always found it best to say nothing to anybody until it's a done deal.
