I'm always amused at what Europeans think happens when a nation's citizens are allowed to own firearms.

Not to get off topic, but guns only make the news when something goes wrong. It's like airplanes - every day tens of thousands (hundreds of thousands?) take off and land safely. The only time it's news is when ONE crashes.
Guns are the same way. Yes, millions of people in the US own guns, and the overwhelming majority of them use them for hunting, target shooting, collections, or just to have under the bed "just in case". The ones in the news are the tiny percentage where people choose to break the law or where they disregard proper safety procedures.
Now back to Corvettes. OP says prior to the divorce, the couple was ready to sell the car. So the ex-husband may not be totally bent on keeping the car, it might just be a way to give the woman a hard time. In which case the cops, the court papers and the buyer might be enough to convince him it's time to let it go. I hope that's the case.

If you remove suicides from the number of gun related deaths, about 90% of the rest are just criminals-gang members- shooting each other in four or five cities that all have strict gun control.
If you remove the shootings from Detroit, Chicago, Washington DC and some other city i can't recall, there are very few gun homicides in the rest of the US.

I'm disappointed in the whole thread. When I read the title I thought I would read a sordid tale of hookers, jealous wives, etc..

No disappointment in the thread title here - 3 AM anywhere usually just means a trip to the bathroom anymore.......

Fascinating potboiler material, hopefully with a good ending. Can't wait to get to the end!

Like the guy in the State Farm commercial, What A Day! Our story begins at 7am with me meeting, lets say Jane and her boyfriend Bubba, for the first time. She shows me clean title in her name and court docs. She call police for arrival at, lets say Dicks house. First problem, police in Tennessee don't serve paper on Sunday unless its arrest warrant. Now Jane and Bubba are calling everybody to get a officer to show up, but no dice. After 30mins go by, Jane says, lets go to Dicks house and maybe he will let it go since I'm here. We take off in two vehicles, mine with enclosed trailer winding 10 miles or so through the mountains. Anybody ever see the movie Deliverance? We arrive close to Dicks house where Bubba lets Jane out so she can ride with me to Dicks. Arriving at Dicks, she stays in the truck. She's not allowed on the property. I knock three different times and Dick and girlfriend come to the door. I tell him who I am and he says, " you made a trip for nothing". The cars not here Dick says. After an argument between them, he goes in the house, comes back and says "the police are on their way, get off my property". Yes sir, I'm gone. Take Jane back to Bubba and they leave for police of their own. Five mins later two cop cars with lights and sirens go to Dicks. 15 mins later, #1 cop comes to talk to me while other cop #2 stays with Dick. He says car is there. 15 mins later, cop #2 comes down from Dicks and talks to me too. Jane and Bubba show back up with papers from the court. She does not have the RIT from a judge to take car. She only has divorce decree. She has to do that tomorrow, then have cops come back to take car, if Dick is as home. If Dick ain't there, they cant get the car. I told Jane I'm not going back to Dicks. Her, Bubba and the cops will have to get it out for me to come back. Bubba says they will get it out and offers to meet me half way and deliver it to me. I said OK. I told Jane we need to renegotiate our price, which she did since I wasted two days, hotel and food. What A Day! To be continued.............
