Corvette sightings always put smiles on people's faces, but first generation Corvette sightings can take some breaths away. Check out this insanely custom 1962 Corvette.

I think you have described it perfectly.
On a more serious note a ton of work and money in this one.

The hood scoop destroys the original lines of the car.

Classic lines more prevalent in original. Hood scoop is too " boxie " . disrupting the flow. If needed a 70 Chevelle type raised center could look like it belonged.
If the owner / designer is ecstatic ....... it's perfect !

Looks like a NCRS Top Flight Bloomington Gold Car to me.

Do the lines of this hood scoop "flow" better? I tried to make it fit the curvy lines of the body.

That thing is all wrong and the sad thing is it cost a bunch to build it.

There are worse things you could do to a Corvette.

Not for me, and by the way, that body looks like it started as a 61. Unless they molded in the bottom rocker panels....

Did those things costs $100,000s to build? I didn't think so.

No doubt a lot of money spent on something that looks like crap. Builder would be lucky to get $.10 on the dollar spent on that one.

I've always thought that if you must put a hood scoop on a C1, an Austin Healy 3000 look would be the way to go.
