Wilwood D8 caliper clearance
Does anyone know if the Wilwood D8 calipers will clear 15" wheels....specifically 15x7 TTD on a 3.75 backspace?
Thanks for the help!

When these calipers first became available, I purchased a set from Vansteel for my '63 with front disc conversion and had no clearance issues with original DC rally wheels.
However when test fitting a set of reproduction knock-off's I discovered a slight interference on a couple of spots on the calipers. I decided to clearance the calipers since it seemed localized on both calipers and was simplest to do. I spoke with Vansteel about this and asked if they could speak to Wilwood about sending the calipers back and re-powder coating them since I had removed the coating in places. They arranged for me to return them and have the work done. Vansteel has always been great to work with!
I read a few other folks having some minor clearance issues early on, but have heard nothing recently so Wilwood may have done some additional clearancing on their own. I believe it was more of a variation in the wheels, as my original rally's had no issue.
I believe Jim, (427HotRod) has installed them on his C2 and would be a good person to ask. I know he's changed to a variety of different wheels on his car.
Good luck... GUSTO

Much appreciated Gusto....that's about what I figured. I used their D52 calipers on my Suburban and had to clearance them slightly to fit under the factory wheels as well. Seems like they SHOULD fit, but tolerances in these old cars being what they are, I'm not shocked that yours required a little finesse.

I have the Wilwood D8 calipers on my '63 with Vision 15x7 front and 15x8 rear rally style wheels to accommodate the original hubcaps and they do not even come close to clearing the calipers! I had to install 1/4" spacers, longer studs and clearance the calipers (against the advice of the manufacturer). Most likely the wheel in my case. But, I could not find an alternate 15" wheel with the necessary backspacing that I was looking for that would allow the installation of the original hubcaps and fit my project.
Bottom line - I suggest you test fit your desired wheel prior to purchase if possible!

The wheels I used; original rally's (no clearance issue) and direct bolt on style, knock-off wheels (slight clearance issue), both were 15" X 6" with 3 & 1/2" of backspacing.

I'm pretty close to what you're looking for but not exactly.
15x6 TTD 3.66 BS p/n VN1055661
D8 on all four wheels no clearance issues

Good info, thanks! Ill probably order just one wheel from Summit once I get the new brakes on to verify fitment. That was I can just return the single wheel if they don't fit.

I've got them on my car. I've used 8" Rallys on rear and 7" on front with no issues. Also Cragar's....but they need spacers even with stock calipers. I used some US Mag 18x9.5's on the rear and 17x7's on the front with no issues...and my drag wheels are Bogarts on the front and M/T's on the rear. No clearance issues at all on any of them.
