date code stamp
Hi everyone. I have gotten a lot of good info from this site and now I ran into a situation that I cannot find help with so I finally joined. I hope someone can help.
I'm interested in replacing my carburetor with a correct date coded one. Looking at my engine date code stamp it shows F033IHT. F for flint 03 for March and HT for 350 hp. What does 3I mean? Did chevy use the "I" for a number 1? Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the Corvette Forum! You might find some responses questioning why you would want a correct dated part but remember that is your choice. You asked a legitimate question and received the correct answer.
Remember that most members, who would ask why a dated part, are trying to give you an alternative for the possibility of something better. Take it all in stride and enjoy.

We love EYE CANDY. That doesn't always mean lovely young girls (I am forbidden to stare at them by my wife). It means CARS in any condition.
Where are pictures of your CAR??? I am surprised others haven't chewed your butt for no PICS, even love piles of parts.

Yes, pictures are required from new guys. BTW, welcome.
I assume that you know that an HT code mean that yours is a L79 (hydraulic lifters), 350 HP engine with a 4 speed manual transmission, with no AC or TI.
The correct carb for your car is the model 4150 Holley, carb list # 2818-1, part number 3849804.
The correct date coding for '65 Holleys will have only three digits (four digits came into being in 1973), with:
First digit year: 5 (for 1965) (could be a late 1964 carb with a 4)
Second digit month: 1-9 (January - September), 0 for October, and A for November and B for December. Obviously, yours should be very late 64 or early 1965.
Third Digit: The week of the month: 1-5 numbers only.
So, the 10th of January would read on the right side of the horn:
3849804
List 2818-1
512
Also, the metering blocks should be stamped 4094 for the primary bowl side and 4099 for the secondary bowl side.
I think NCRS allows up to six months before car production date for an allowable "original" date-coded carb. But Colvin's book shows that closer dates are more common.

Welcome to the forum, but one thing you have to learn:
