Default 1955 hood release cable

Currently I have to put my car on a lift and push a bar into the latch to pop it. This is not convenient. Has anyone replaced the hood release cable? Anyone know where to buy one? What years fit my 1955? Thanks in advance.

Later 54 to 55 only. Early 54 and 53 had pull ***** on each side of the dash working the latches.

I was afraid of that. Does 56-57 fit? At this point, function > original. How hard of a project is this?

you could try Grossmueller's. If no luck, I have a driver quality hood release that I removed from my 55. it performed perfectly and was only replaced because I had a restored one for judging. $250

I don't want to go thru what the OP has to go thru should the hood release cable ever stop working on my '54.

So, what I've done is to attach a couple of lengths of coathanger wire to the hood catches in the engine bay. The lengths of wire pass thru the firewall and are bent into loops which I can easily grab. If the original hood release cables ever break, I can grab the coathanger wires and still manage to open the hood.

A bubba kluge, to be sure, but it works.
