1953 #34 fresh hot rod restoration
At a cruise night last night in Mundelein IL 1953 Corvette #34 rolled in. The restoration work was done at, Tri power Automotive in Libertyville IL. Convertible top and aftermarket hard top are almost finished. The current owner said his father bought the car long ago. Sold the Blue flame and installed a over the counter fuel injected motor as he was a parts manager at a Chevy store. Car was restored to condition his father would have had it in. Day 2 some call it. He says he plans on driving it to local shows and enjoying it. Looked like a fun car with the fuelie motor.

Interesting car That's one way to go out and enjoy a 53. Good for him.
Thanks for sharing. I'm going to update the profile for #34 in my 53 list.
I wonder what kind of value a non-original type build 53 like this has? It would be a fun car.

Too cool! Maybe he could bill it as the "first restomod." Circa 1957, of course!

Great restoration of what could have been back in the late 50s.
Nobody would have thought about future value. It would have been more about going faster.

OK, may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it appears that everything the owner has done to the car can be undone.
The car could be returned to original with not much issue, assuming the owner has the original parts.
I remember Jim Minniker (Corvette engineer and race car driver) saying one time that "It takes a real man to modify a C1".
It takes an even bigger man to modify a 1953 Corvette.

My kind of mod!!!
And I'd love to have a 54 with a built 261 and later model 3sp (fully syncro in 1st).

Wait until there is another reunion of 53 cars and see where all the people will be if this car is there. Car has a great story and there is no need to have another 53 restored to factory specs. A driven car is more valuable to this hobby than a dozen restored examples that might only show up at a Corvette or Concourse meet to get a ribbon.
