Brakelight switch
My 1974 had a brakelight problem. In troubleshooting, I found that there was no brakelight switch on the pedal bracket. There was, however, a switch mounted on the pedal arm with a light pull chain attached to the front floor, and a vacuum hose to the switch. I have no idea what this setup is? Did any Corvettes have this type of switch? I installed a new stock switch and I now have brakelights, but wonder what the other setup was.
Thanks,
Tony

Maybe for a cruise control dis-engagement on braking....I don't think its for a brake light switch..

73-75 Corvettes had a switch on the accelerator pedal, that opened a flap in the rear of the hood. When the pedal was "floored", the switch opened the flap, to feed cool outside air to the engine. It was a slide type switch, and I believe it had a vacuum line going to it, but I don't recall there being a "pull chain" on it.
The only thing going to the brake pedal, was the brake light switch, and cruise control was not offered on the Corvette until 1977.
You might have better luck posting your question in the C3 Section, and a picture would diffidently help.
