Cool
Harry Mann Corvette frames are the holy grail for Vettes. There are a couple of sets on Ebay now for serious $. From what I hear, the seller used to work at HM and has a number of them.
I found a new-in-package Kenneth Chevrolet, Hawthorne California frame a couple of years ago. I worked there as a kid in the 60's.
I'd like to find a Vasek Polak Porsche, Hermosa Beach California and a Brokaw Chevrolet Hermosa Beach California/

Back in the day they were about the largest Vette dealer in the USA. They used to make a big deal when the new ones were released every year, big party at the dealership, etc. I went to a couple in the late 60's. As a kid growing up in LA it was a yearly highlight.

I live about 5 miles from Hemels. Bought my '08 Z06 from them and other cars. Up until a few years ago they were operating out of a building that was originally a horse livery.
Anyhow a couple years ago I saw on ebay some NOS chrome license plate frames from Colon---I think the Chevy dealer was Avery's back then maybe? Vender was someone from the next town over (Bronson). I'll do some asking and see what I can come up with.
Though pricy Mad Max has a pair: http://shop.madmaxsauthenticplates.c...3plqscsfapp005
And a real pricy one on ebay now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Old-Averys-C...5Txx78&vxp=mtr
Seems like the ones I saw that were here locally were $20 or something.
I can run an ad in the local Shoppers guide-----I need to put an ad in there anyway for a Ford dealer frame.

Original issue with logo on back. It would have been the mate to my top one.
The two piece set had HM name, Corvette inverted like this set shown here.
ps. those silly high priced ones on eBay are 2nd issue, NOS versions.

THANKS. The frame came on a 65 Corvette conv. with original paint 350HP & TI. It has some of the white paint wore off but otherwise in great shape. It went from LA to N. California then to north of Reno NV. where I got it.

THANKS In 1967 It was Hemels Chevy as per my shipping report from NCRS. I have the tank sticker showing the same dealer & zone as Hemels. I lived in Auburn IN about a hour away from Colon but didn't know that my 435 came from there or I would have gone there to see if anyone remembered the Corvette. It would be great if you could find anything from there or a picture of the old building. Would be more than happy to pay for anything you can come up with.
AGAIN THANKS KEN BARRY.

Massachusetts is just about to initiated the enhanced inspection which will prohibit anything that obscures the license plate and prevents automatic "readers" from discerning the plate information. Even if the plate surround doesn't actually block any of the plate, the frame "confuse" the computers that scan the plates at toll stations and the police scanners that read the plates of speeders and scoff laws. Goes into effect on October 1st. It'll be strange when Dealers will no longer be able to affix their advertising to the plates of the cars that the sell, even more strange when all of the "Go Patriots" plate surrounds will have stickers attached that state, "Not for use on vehicles registered for road use in Massachusetts."

Some dealerships didn't have license plate frames. My 67 came from Hemel Chevy in Colen MI. and are still in business & I talked to a guy that worked there a long time & he said that they never had them. He did send me 2 old dealer key chains he had & 2 current decals that they put on the back of the cars they sell. I do have a original Harry Mann Corvette frame that is on my 65 that came from there.
To answer a previous question in this thread, these types of things were all purchased by the dealer from local salesmen that called on all types of businesses selling promotional items such as calendars etc. They had books FULL of things you could buy that could be personalized. I would think that you could still have these made possibly copied from an original if you would buy a minimum quantity.

Lic. frames seem to be a mostly western US phenomena although I do see some eastern ones. Back in my IL and CO dealership days, we used chrome screw on nameplates or stick on nameplates that looks like paint. My own car has a frame from Three Way Chevrolet in Bakersfield which is still operating as Three Way Chevrolet Cadillac these days. According NCRS the car originally came through Ken-Ray Chevrolet in Minneapolis. Anyone have anything at all from Ken-Ray for sale or trade? Feel free to pm.
