Anyone collect license plate frames ?
I have seen them from time to time on CL and garage sales. The old pot metal frames have a certain lure to them. Here are a couple I found.

Running out of room for more cars. Have to pick up on something easier to store.
I have seen them in stamped steel and pot metal. I assume the pot metal for the most part are several decades old. Were they an accessory a dealer ordered from private industry or just sold through ads ? Like anything else, if there is a demand someone will have them reproduced.

I'll find your Gordon Wilson, if you find me a George Rowe of Lexington MASS.

Well, that would be great, but my thought is that they do not exist. Like most east coast car stores, Rowe Chevrolet probably had the little script sign to attach to the rump of the car instead of the tag frame. But, anything your old man can turn up would be more than welcome. I have searched chev tag frames for decades and never heard of your Gordon Wilson, except in your want. I am still on the hunt.

I found a dealer emblem on EBay a while back but I wasent sure what else is out there. Unless you know some one who bought a Elkhart blue 67 coupe new. But I belive the owner was in the service

Unique 1968 Italian (Torino = Turin) vacuum-formed plastic license plates from my 1968 Ferrari 330GTC #11261; large (rear) plate has a thin chrome-plated die-cast frame, small (front) plate doesn't ruin the looks of the front of the car. The car is back in Europe now, in the Netherlands, and sold recently there for $700,000 (I paid $8,000 for it in Italy in 1971).

The dealer for my 63 is still in biz in Texas at the same location....I talked to the grandson of the original owner about 40 minutes on the phone and he sent me his last metal dealer emblem from the period (what a guy). Couldn't bring myself to drill holes in the body so I safety wired it to the license frame. One of my favorite tidbits about the car.
He included a pic of the dealership from "back in the day"!

I also created my own license plate frame after many years of searching for LaPointe Chevrolet, Charlotte, NC by finding an emblem on Ebay. For those looking here is a good Ebay site looking for emblems or license plate brackets:
