Reached the bottom of the barrel?
Last week we had a nice pic here of a Corvette junk yard from a few decades ago. Looking at the cars in that yard, it occurs to me that most of them were in much better shape than the two 65's that have been on sale on eBay this week. Lump this in with the moss covered car at Carlisle and it leads me to believe we've come to a point where we've just about dredged up every up even the extreme bottom feeding "barn" finds out there. We even had a barn find in new barn. How's that work?
The Corvette barn find may soon go the way of a the dodo bird😥.

No kidding! I see more than one distracted/texting driver every day I drive. Almost got taken out by an 18-wheeler pulling doubles on I-5 this past week when he drifted into my lane. I had to dart into the left lane in an instant with no time to look to see if it was clear. Luckily it was, or I would have been toast. (Driving the company's 2002 Prius!) There's a reason I haven't been on my motorcycle in over 3 years. And I don't drive my '15 Ford anymore, either. When I'm in my '61, I sweat it out at every red light, hoping I don't get punched from behind by an SUV. It used to be the drunks you had to watch for, but if you kept off the road from 9pm to 6am, you were pretty much OK. These new distracted drivers are 24-7, and there are a lot more of them.

It was also interesting that all the Corvettes had crashed front ends...the rears in all I could see were fine.. Hmmm.....

Not just Corvettes, Camaros, and Mustangs are crawling out of the woodwork as barn finds. I am convinced most of them are 'barn find clones'.
I have a 68 Camaro that has been in an enclosed trailer for over 20 years. If i just move it to the 'barn' the value will probably triple.

Years ago there used to be many decent high performance cars here in the California wrecking yards. There were also many decent used high performance cars for sale at low prices. I walked past many a junked GTO, Chevelle SS, Charger, Corvette, etc. that would today go for big $$$ in the internet. I still can't believe the depth of restorations now being done on what were formerly total rusted out wrecks. I think as the supply has dwindled, the hobbyist is willing to start at a much lower entry level these days.

Cars that would have been allowed to peacefully languish into their eventual return to the dust from whence they came are now being rousted out and served up as "running when parked by mature driver" examples to be restored.
This is counter to the argument that prices are plummeting as people rush for the exits to dump their unwanted C2s.

i can recall shells being drug up to Carlisle that were peoples parts car years ago being bought up. then you had people dragging up cars in the same shape as that white 65 being brought out of the wood work.
I would think there still lots of projects left out there people don't know about. and remember the internet message board is a small percentage of owners and restores

That ticks me off to no end! I had to take my 94 year old aunt to get groceries yesterday because some boy rear ended her a few days ago! We think he was on the phone or texting. She's a little sore in the chest where she hit the steering wheel. She may be 94 but she's still sharp and able to get around. Hopefully this will teach the boy a lesson. Her son, the lawyer, has already started to work

We have not reached the bottom of the barrel, not by a long shot.
I know of a storage building full of 56-57 Corvettes. I am guessing that there are 20 or so cars in that building. I have seen the pictures.
All of them are solid projects that had been collected since the 1970s.
There are other buildings that I have been told about (but I have not seen the pictures) that have many 1958-1960 Corvettes, and yet another building with 1961-1962 Corvettes.
Same person / family owns all of them.
These cars will continue to come out of the woodwork for many years to come.

Sorry, only coastal redwood tree cars in this area. OTOH, they tend to have less damage than the Euc cars as redwoods are slower growing....
