Does anyone have any information on the story behind this picture? I have fairly good reason to believe it's my 65 coupe racing in 1966. I am hoping somebody might have the story on it.

Start with whoever now owns what used to be the Petersen Publishing Company Photo Library - it's probably one of theirs.

I have no info on this race, but there's probably a song about it.

Don't know about the one in the photo, but during that time period one of the quickest and often a Corvette beater was the 289 Cobra run by Ed Hedrick. It was the old Costillo and Larson (driven by Bruce Larsen) Cobra that Ed purchased and campaigned very successfully.

My car is a glen green big block car sold from Baher Chevrolet in Hermosa Beach in July of '65. I know it was drag raced in those years in the SoCal area.

Peterson publishing might be a good lead, thx!

The car is currently in many pieces in the process of a ground up restoration, still missing its rear view mirror as seen in the picture.

I hung a big shift and got into high, and then I flew by the Sting Ray and I waved bye-bye............
