Won't ever happen. There is no possibility of any compomise on any issue.
The senate is a dead even split. (two or three of the alleged Repubs are actually Dems)
...and I pay so many taxes already....I stopped worrying about it and leave it up to my accountant....and he makes sure I get to take advantage of any allowable deductions I can...and if I can't...oh well.

And as for people still not getting over who lost....like if she won... things would be miraculously better. It can also be MUCH worse. I am not an 'armchair quarterback'....But I feel that if changes have to be made to get things done....let them happen and see how things play out....because the previous track record speaks for itself for a very, very long time now and it was not working....but in some peoples opinion ...the past was perfect.

To my knowledge, state sales tax as fed tax deduction was eliminated decades ago, maybe 1990s.

The talk of the elimination is the deduction of State INCOME taxes from federal taxes.

WRONG. Schedule A, line 5 allows you to deduct State & Local Income tax OR State & Local Sales Tax. However, you can't deduct both. Since my state doesn't have an income tax, I've been deducting sales tax for decades.

Worried about an IRS audit? Avoid what's called a red flag. That's something the IRS always looks for. For example, say you have some money left in your bank account after paying taxes. That's a red flag.

An online template I found, based on this new proposal, indicated I would get a return of $4275.00 which beats the hell out of last year when I paid over $5,000.00.

I only buy used......I let the original owner enjoy all of the fun associated with the huge sales taxes......and the monstrous depreciation.......lol. But if the sales tax is an issue, use the trade-in option to minimize the pain.

Amen to that. Me too. Never bought a new car in my life, for example. If the majority of the public were like me, the economy would tank big time. I get taxed heavily because I am not married with kids. I feel the more kids you have, the more taxes you should pay. Period. The tax breaks for kids were introduced 100 years ago when this country needed to grow and needed more labor. This hasn't applied for the past 50-60 years.

Unfortunately, California has a property tax. It is called "License Fee" on the renewal. It is based on the value of the car and decreases every year to a base fee.
