Default 63 intake?

Well apparently this isn't a 300hp 63 intake? What year? What is the purpose of the two small holes, must have something to do with warming up the carb?

That explains the various "63" carb gaskets I have been seeing FLAPS.

Is this gasket covering the two small holes OK?

Covering the holes will do no harm.

The manifold is a correct 1963 300hp corvette part. The two small holes in question are to allow exhaust heat to warm the carburetor flange which helps prevent ice formation around the throttle blades when the temps are below 50*.

The gasket you have is no good because it will burn through from the exhaust heat. The correct arrangement is manifold, then gasket (with the two holes), insulator then stainless shield. Someone will post a picture for you, these parts are available from the usual corvette vendors.

If you plug the small holes like Duke suggested then you could probably use the gasket you show but without the insulator spacer and stainless shield the fuel lines may not work because the carburetor will sit lower.

You need parts 13,14 and 5 in your picture, the gasket pictured shows the hot slot cut out and is used in conjunction with the other parts. My suggestion is to wire the heat riser open and use the correct gasket sandwich.
